I can't predict when I have the time to post a new blog, but check occasionally. I'm going to try at least weekly.

No title, I guess.

Song of the day: “The banana boat song” by Harry Belafonte. I get this one a lot, don’t I? Guess it wormed its way into my head an refuses to leave. That’s okay though. I like it well enough.

Writing: Let’s start with that. It still isn’t easy, I’ll admit. Them short sentences definitely wreck my flow, but apparently it is easier when I wrote with a pen…the first draft of a scene at least, considering that now the book has reached thirty pages, and I barely even realized it. So it’ll get there, I’m sure.

Lots of busy work these past few days, and yet very little to report, considering its all finishing up little bits of this and that. For some reason there never seems to be enough time for anything, but stuff gets done and that is all that counts really.

The past two days were scorchers, I tell you. Seriously, we went beyond 100 and the air was so humid that it was like walking through a warm bath. Now, on the other hand, the weather is downright wonderful. Heck, if I didn’t know any better I’d think it was autumn. During the night clouds came up above the sea. They crawled across the valley, making their way up (creating a rather eerie mist, by the way. I had to drive through it and it was creepy. Like trailing a ghost, or something) until they reached the top of the mountain.

Now we’ve got gigantic clouds rushing past on the cool breeze coming from the south east. For the first time in almost a week we are able to see beyond the valley again, which is a rather welcome change.
Besides, the dogs love the coolness. They’ve been breathing heavy for days now, the poor darlings, and right now they are literally basking in the cool breeze at their respective places throughout the garden.

I just walked tenant down, and while big brother and grandpa are out to buy cement, she is keeping me company on the lower terrace where we can fully enjoy the weather change and the view while I get up to date with my messages and write today’s blog. Several doggies are lounging around my feet and music is playing on Itunes. Can life be any better than this?
Hah.

It is also perfect weather for the sibs, who are intending to go to the local Saturday market now as well. Weather permitting (in this case, if it isn’t too bloody hot, hah) tomorrow morning they’ll be out there displaying their wares.

Okay, what else. We had our first few big melons (or cantaloupes if you want to be specific), which were delicious. More beets came from the ground, and the last of the corn has been gathered while we enjoy our daily dose of pumpkin sandwiches. Gawd, for a pumpkin, the green warty one is really good. Hah. But yeah, the third real harvest of tomatoes will start any day now, seeing as those Moneymakers are fully laden once again. Considering they are our favorite, this isn’t a bad thing at all.

Oh gawd, the best news of this week is definitely the fact that we have a new coffee machine, which means decent coffee at long last. Seriously, coffee from hot water from the water kettle will do in a pinch, but coffee from the machine is still the best. Gawd! Coffee! I already had my two cups, but I could devour another two, or three…maybe four. *sigh*

Hmmm. Well, I’m all talked out. Considering I have to make chard for lunch yet, and I also need to write more, I’m going to just stop here and see if there’s anything remotely interesting to report the next time round.

Something good-something bad.

Song of the day: “Gumboots” by Paul Simon. Gawd, that takes me back to the days.

So there’s good news and bad news. Let’s start with the bad news and take it from there. That way we’ve got it over with at least.

Darshan (cocker) dies suddenly yesterday afternoon. We really don’t have a clue as to what happened, but one moment he was just fine, and the next he started going limp, tongue turning blue and before you know it (I was already on my way to the car with him) he started spasming. Within less than ten minutes he was gone. Such a pity. He was a beautiful and sweet, downy white with red, and a character for sure.
On the one hand it is a blessing that he died at home and not at the vets, but on the other hand it scares me that it can happen so fast and without any warning. He didn’t suffer, though, so that is a relief at least.

The crappy start of the day resulted in a sincere effort of keeping properly busy, and luckily we got quite a bit of small things done. One of which was freezing about eight pounds of zucchini, helping tenant down because her caregiver was ill, and it really was too nice a day to leave her up in her hot bungalow.

Gawd, before I forget (though I doubt I could) today’s a scorcher. We’ve got a sold 38 Celsius (100 farenheit) going at the moment and it is like sitting in a sauna or an oven at the moment. Even our favorite spot in the wind is hot. Hah.

The day before yesterday I had to go to town for a job interview. It’ll just be a small job really, earning a bit extra for the viable emergencies such as unexpected vet trips with the dogs. Considering any operation is likely to be from a minimum of a 100 bucks, a bit of savings for this eventuality is just smart thinking for as far as I can see. So I’ll be working as a newspaper distributor for a bit. Basically it is a fancy paper route, hah. I’ll be going up and down the coast, which shouldn’t be too bad. Come Monday I’ll need to go on a trip with my new boss and then we’ll see if I’ll manage to do the route by myself in the week afterwards.

I’ve gotta say that it has been a while since I last went on a job interview, and for as far as they go, it wasn’t the worst. I do feel more confident these day, and not being desperate and having time does have its advantages, I’ll admit. I’m not in a rush and if this particular job doesn’t fit my schedule I’ll just have to find another kind. We’ll see. The main distributor I talked with seemed nice enough at least. I do wonder about what we’re supposed to talk about when I’m going on a test run with him on Monday. I mean seriously, I can hardly keep my mouth shut all the time. Hah. Gawd, small talk is such a pain. I guess I’ll have lots to say next Monday…that is if the guy doesn’t change his mind, or something.

Okay, what else? Well, I was out on the town this morning. Mom and middle sister had to go to city hall to get their paperwork for the local market. Considering parking is a total bitch that time of morning it was decided that I would go along to chauffeur. It was hot, humid, pedestrians all over the place, but I finally found a loading zone half a block away from the police station and I managed to write two pages while I was waiting.

It was even warmer when I got home, so I took a quick dip in the pool and headed down for lunch (baked pumpkin on bread again, yum) and then got down to writing…which I should be doing right now.

Well, considering I don’t remember anything else that’s been going on except for gardening, and some carpentry, I’ll just leave it at this and see if I can add another page or two to the new project.

Walk alone! Yay!!!

Song of the day: “We will rock you” by Robbie Williams. Of course the official one is by Queen, but what the heck.

Lots of little chores going on at the moment, finishing off with stuff that has been lying about for months now, just because we’ve been so busy. Getting an old TV up to tenant’s apartment, because hers is on the fritz. Taking an old closet apart in the guest room, because it annoyed our weekly visitor.

I went through our winter clothes supply...eight massive crates of them...sorted through the keepers and that ones that would be suitable for the sibs their venture at the market, and ended up with a full box that they could take along.
Though the weather was downright pleasant early in the morning, by the time I had sorted through the lot, I was standing in the full blare of sunlight again.

While busy, I also got stabbed by a wasp, which felt like someone used a whip on the back of my hand. Now the stupid area has been rapidly swelling, and last night when I went to bed, it ached as if I’d slammed a hammer on it, or something. Now it just itches like a son of a gun.

Writing wise things are going slow. I really have to get used to this new writing style, because at the moment it is going in spurts. Every time I find myself getting into a nice flow, I have to remind myself to keep sentences short and basic, which of course wrecks the flow. I haven’t figured out a method yet, so it is a tad frustrating.
I’ll have to get back to you on how it is working out, ‘cause so far I’ve only managed about 14 or 16 pages. The story is there, sure. I just need to get it out.

Gardening: what with the weekend here, the sibs did the watering of the yard, of course, so big brother and I could focus more on the chores than usual. We finished the wall partition of the carport, meaning that we now have a beautiful barrier of wood where ugly fencing used to be. It looks really well.

Tenant had another breakthrough: Yesterday she walked All-By-Herself, thank you very much, and was thrilled. So was I. It was beautiful, in particular because after we bound her left arm up, she was even walking straight, all by herself, with only the stick to support her. It was beautiful, I almost shot up, and she did. Here she’d thought that she’d never manage to walk alone again. Hah. I would like tell those physical therapists to go F themselves, but it really is not worth it. Tenant can do it, and that’s all that matters.

The freezer now has its first batch of bread in it, and if all goes well, we’re doing a harvest later on and those tomatoes will go into the deep freeze immediately. It’ll take some experimenting to see how it’ll work best. I am looking forward to soup later on.

We haven’t figured the wiring of the trailer out yet. We might end up rewiring the whole thing just to get it over with. Grandpa had another flat tire, this time the front, and since we couldn’t find the leaking spot we decided to just to stop the mess by getting a new one for that too. Since a new tube only costs about six bucks, it won’t kill us.

Well, I’ve got some writing to do. I’m getting out of here. See ya.
