Snoozing. Grrr.

Song of the day: “The walk of life” by the Dire Straights. How very appropriate, hah.

Well, it’s been a friggin’ busy couple of days and yet there was very little that got done, darn it. The edits…there just wasn’t any time for it, really, and that frustrated me to no end. Added to that, I was so darn tired that by the time midnight arrived I couldn’t, for the life of me, keep my eyes open.

Seriously, yesterday morning, we had to leave early, and while driving all the way to Marbella, I had to be careful about falling to sleep…you know? While driving? Aaaah. But anyway, luckily big brother drove back, with our visiting friend keeping him company while I promptly nodded off. It was a tad embarrassing, ‘cause I think I drooled. Hah.

We had to make a quick trip to this gift card store, so our friend to put an add in the paper, and then it was back home for us…but I’m so getting ahead of myself, seeing as I completely skipped the day before yesterday when I had that appointment with the doable doctor. Admittedly today it was less the case, what with him having shaved, but what the heck. I got my insoles, which set me back a solid sixty bucks. Yikes! That took my by surprise for sure, but after walking on them a bit (there are three weird lumps in their centers) I had to admit that they were worth every penny.

It’s far from comfortable, and it causes a certain numbness that I don’t like at all, but the pain is less because of them. Supposedly I have to get used to them (and I agree, because after an hour my legs were exhausted) first one hour, then two, etc, etc. We’ll see how it goes.

Okay, what’s up…we’ve been clearing out one of the old pool rooms. What with one being used by our weekly visitor, we really need to get some storage space cleared, meaning the small one, where we took everything out and put in shelving. Considering that ever since the day before yesterday REAL summer temperatures arrived, and when I say real, I mean sweltering, I’ve been sweating somewhat fierce. Since I had a major headache yesterday, I failed to appreciate summer. Hah.

Tenant spent the majority of the last couple of days with us, and because it was so hot yesterday, I took her to the pool where she could cool off for a bit. She enjoyed it a lot, but what with my mood, I was rather relieved when her caregiver returned.

There was watering the plants, of course, harvesting…tomatoes spouting from our ears, remember…and just enjoying the end of the day with a slight decrease in temperatures. Regretfully our pumpkin came loose, while I was checking it for spots, so we’ll have to make due with a fifteen pound one, only. Darn it!
Hah.

Though we did some more changes in the manuscript in the last few hours of the day, I was really too tired to do a lot and decided to just give up for the day and crash before I passed out.

Now I’ve slept a solid eight hours and it is splendid. Sure, I could have easily slept on another few hours, but I feel a lot better. We even got to clearing out the old shelving in the pantry and put in the new storage closet. It looks so cute. I gotta find more of those cupboards, because especially with the blue and red grandpa used to paint them, it’s a great piece of furniture.

The dogs didn’t much like the morning activity. In fact, they were watching us wearily throughout the chore, squeaking when we’d accidentally stand on a paw or tale, while they stretched out right there where we were working, aaargh.
Which reminds me, (don’t ask me why it does) what is it with dogs and lying in the sun when the temperatures are well above thirty? I’m serious. Right now, Knight II, Sitabah and Dax are all stretched out on the tiles in the full blare of sunlight. Idiots!

Time to get to work for me…I’m starting to yawn again, damn it.

Harvesting still going strong

Song of the day: “Sin sin sin” by Robbie Williams. The guy does have good movies, and somehow always manages to make me laugh with his escapades. Quite an entertainer, that’s a fact.

Yesterday was quite a busy day, darn it, barely had time for anything that was remotely important and substantial, while still being elemental. First of all, we had to go to the consulate to get tenant’s passport, which is a trip of a solid hour, basically to pick up a tiny booklet. Grrr. Afterwards, considering we came through town anyway, we went to the water company, because last week we got a bill that is half of the usual one. At first we were thrilled of course, but then we started thinking of all the hassles with the electricity company when a mess up like this was made and, aaargh.

So there was a trip to the water company, where it turns out that they changed the rules on us again, without us noticing it. The bill counts for January to April, which means that the summer bill won’t be here until three months from now. Yikes. It feels sorta like a stay in execution.

Our friend Dani had to go to what could very well be her new job (tourist shop in the village) so we dropped her off there, before big brother and I went on to the bank because ever since we had to change our account we haven’t been receiving our monthly drafts. Luckily they already knew what we came for, because the director waved us straight into his office and launched into an explanation about the address saying “apartment” instead of PO box. *sigh*

Also, he suggested that it might be cheaper to do insurance through the bank, because they made deals with companies that grants bank members to get discounts. It’s worth some thought, since saving money definitely is a good thing.

But anyway, that done we headed for the car. For a moment I lingered at one of the tourist shops where the owner tried to pawn off this really cute purse/backpack…I’m in the market for a new one, after all…for first 18 bucks, and when I pulled a face at the price (I wasn’t carrying anything except small change, hah) he offered to hand it over for fifteen. I was tempted, but finally decided against it because, lets face it; the one I have might not look good anymore, it does still serve it’s purpose…admittedly, if he’d said ten, I would have scrounged up the change, hah.

Once at home I had to help tenant head on down to the green house, where we would be working during the afternoon. Considering the bad economy, she won’t be able to afford her full time caregiver, so that means we’re going to have to pitch in a little. The necessities taken care of, we slowly, but steadily make our way down, where she spent the rest of the afternoon reading, nibbling and drinking with us. It was a comfortable afternoon, even though we had too few hours to get a lot done.

The query letter is shaping up, I admit. It’s almost as well rounded and cohesive as the one we did for Saving Nina, and considering the responses for that one, I have high hopes, hah.
We are now a chapter or two into the paper edit, which means that we should cowboy up and jump into it feet first. It would help if I weren’t so bloody tired at the end of the day (a day like yesterday, anyway) ‘cause last night I was lucky I could find my pillow before I passed out.

Once done with the day’s computer work, it was time to do some serious harvesting, because what with grocery shopping on Monday, we hadn’t gotten to it at all. Heck Monday night we barely managed to water all the plants that needed watering. Luckily, last night we did manage, and got two full crates of tomatoes, a crate full of zucchini (yes, they’re still going strong) several sweet corn, and a crate full of red beets.

Of course, by the end of the day by foot was hurting like fff…hmmm, you know what…but since there was a crate of kiwis to take care of, along with the majority of tomatoes, big brother and I spent the majority of the evening, cooking tomato soup (it worked out well, yay) and a huge kiwi pie. This one didn’t work out so well, except for the taste, which is bloody splendid. Yep, we’ll be eating pie this afternoon.

Tomatoes that were damaged, blemished, or whatever, were dog food and the darlings loved it, I assure you. Some prefer zucchini however, but since we had more than enough of those too, all had however their little hearts desired.

Well, that’s it for me. I’m going to have myself some breakfast/lunch and then get to work on the book.

Here, have a Poem.

Song of the day: “Living Doll” by Cliff Richard, and the Young Ones. Freaky song, very suitable for a day that felt waaaaaay too long, a tad too painful and…well, Aaaaaargh, it was grocery day, so go figure.

Added to that, Manasa, one of our eleven year old Golden retrievers was ill last night, and then appeared to have slipped into a coma by the time morning arrived, so before grocery shopping we had to head for the vet where we had to make the decision to put her down, since it was most likely a metastasized cluster of tumors. Dammit! Yeah, that really made my day, poor Manasa. First Vara a few weeks ago, and now we only have Nata left of that particular litter. Double damn.

So I’m in a freaky mood, and seeing as I’m totally not in the mood to tell about my day, I had to wear four friggin pair of shoes just to get through it, mind you, I’m going to really cheat with the day’s blog and put up a poem I love. It is like a short story, but then in rhyme.

Here goes:

Vengeful Warrior

Armed and weary to the bone she stood upon the shore
The hounds of hell swirling around, their eyes red and lusty galore
Grief and vengeance in mind her strongest drive
Naught would stop her, no man with sword or knife

Winds swept in from the raging sea
The land of those before her, keeping her captured, never allowing her to be free
Death had claimed all she held dear
Alone she stood now, in solitude but not with fear

Alone, but fight she would
Her only aid hell’s blood lusty brood
Thunder and lighting brought on by her masterful spell
So much power within and no one to tell

Ragged and torn clothes plastered against her chilled skin
Vengeance and wrath her only sin
Cast in light her mighty sword gleamed
Twirling through the air, it danced and preened

A gleeful cry of battle lured her from behind
The fiery beasts around her perked but paid no mind.
Slowly the last of her kind turned to face the cause of her pain
The brute, the beast; by his hand her clan was slain

Rain, like ice slapping against cliffs of stone and rock
His presence expected, no longer a shock
Proudly the brutish enemy stood broad and tall
His intent clear, to break her, to make her fall

Submission and defeat his only wish
‘T was the one thing he would never accomplish
Determined and fierce
Her only intention, his evil heart to pierce

Growling, their eyes alight
The hounds spread out, prepared to fight
The sight they made, fearful indeed
Forcing the brute into mighty speed

Roaring a proud cry of battle
The brute rushed forward with lightning’s powerful crackle
Agile and fast, the warrior princess spun around
The hefty sword shimmering as its point lifted from the ground

Fluid like the violent sea at her back
She burst towards danger, her every fiber thrown into attack
In her mind were the faces of those she’d lost
She would avenge them, no matter what the cost

Sword against sword the combatants met
It wouldn’t be over until one lay dead
Grace and speed a fair match indeed
It met brute force unrelentingly, until she would succeed

Endlessly they parried within their deadly dance
Making her wonder if she stood a chance
An error of judgment made her clumsily tumble
Her footing slipping, making her stumble

Triumphantly the brute roared his victory
His glee so great that he was too late to see
The hounds of hell burst forth en mass
Protecting, defending their fiery lass

Claws and teeth sharp and strong, they flew at the brute’s mighty form
Allowing the warrior princess to do as she’d sworn
Tears of loss and pain trailed down her sallow cheek
Her sword rising, thrusting up into lighting’s peak

Power of vengeance and love pulsed through blood and limb
Her beautiful face pale, her expression grim
Heaving with one mighty stroke
The brutish enemy’s body broke

The empty shell that remained
Soon the earth would have regained
Alone she stood again
Her turmoil calming, a knowing inside telling her that this is where it all began

Rebuild the clan she would
In the end, the land would be as it should

The end.
I’m outta here.
