Song of the day: “The young ones” by Cliff Richards. Boy that’s an oldie…not to mention that it has been ages since I last heard it.
Not a lot of activity going on, basically we’re doing busywork trying to finish everything up. Big brother and I have both been working on the imperial for the Land Rover, and why he is welding the final touching, I have been removing the “snails” and such from the metal with an angle grinder. It’s my first time with that particular power tool (I love power tools, btw) but it is not going bad at all. Almost got it done for painting.
So yesterday was mostly spent doing that, along with some carpentry in tenant’s solarium. I had wanted to put in the ceiling today, but grandpa insists on first painting the beams and such, so it will be easier. I wonder if he ‘s managing it. Hah.
Along with that, big brother and I have been talking a lot about our new book idea. It is going to be a joint operation, really, and it will primarily involve a series of six. We’re going to see how that works out.
Am a tad tired for some inexplicable reason, and I am seriously contemplating a nap just about now. Heck, the way I’m going I just might pass out on the table here. (Sitting in the carport). Of course I did have an extremely early morning today, what with us having to go to first Marbella and then afterwards Malaga with the Land Rover. Yep, we need to have something fixed again, but since it would take at least three days, if not more, we had to make an appointment to head back that way ‘round Tuesday. Blast all the stupid repairs. It is now official that the Ford Garage screwed us over with faulty fixing and I still don’t know what I’m going to do about that. Maybe I should sue. Hah.
Gawd, almost forgot. Big brother got pulled over in the Daewoo Matiz, btw. Seriously, if you know the Matiz you know how rediculous that is. But at the moment the officials are a tad paranoid over here. They're basically pulling aside all single men, and considering I had big brother's passport in my bag, I had no choice but to walk over and join in on the mess.
I parked the car at the gas station and hiked back to the round about where big brother was being frisked by a talkative, yet completely Spanish Guardia Civil. Patted him down and everything, searched his coat, searched the car and then started eying me when I came up and explained that I had been waiting for brother to pick me up at the gas station, and that I had his passport.
Finally understanding, he took the paperwork (including that of the car) and then demanded to look through my purse and work suitcase. If I didn't know any better you'd think that the bag was carrying a bomb, or something. He handled it with kid gloves and then had us open it...all of it under the watchful eyes of his colleagues with heavy guns and a chain designed to throw on the road to kill car tires. It would have been a tad scary if it hadn't been nice material for the blog.
But anyway, in the end everything checked out, of course (I could have told him, that, but who am I?)and we were allowed to move it along. *sigh*
Well, not much writing going on either, seeing as we’re still working with the edit. Reached page 75 last night, by the way, so we’re almost halfway through.
No gardening, much to my regret. We did have a water leak repair the other day. Took big brother and grandpa about an hour to replace the main supply hose with anew one. I sewed my chair pillows yesterday afternoon too, and mom made new casing for my dog pillows. Sure, lots of small things going on, but they too need to be seen to.
I really should take a siesta. I’m just too friggin’ tired to keep my eyes open. Not much else happened anyway, so who cares.
Gotta go.
Notice:
I can't predict when I have the time to post a new blog, but check occasionally. I'm going to try at least weekly.

Sucks.
Song of the day: “Broken strings” by James Morrison and Nelly Furtado. Didn’t discover this song until last year, and I’ve gotta say that it surprised me. I don’t generally like Morrison, so it was a pleasant surprise.
Ah, another workday past and we did it in such a way that we didn’t need to go out again this morning. Luckily for us, John Doe (main distributor, remember?) was once again early, so we managed to do the village at the end of the evening and be done with the whole thing.
A bit of bad news first. Yesterday morning started out with a trip to the vet’s together with tenant. It was time to have her little dog, Hummel put down, and it was a rather emotional morning for all of us (her, of course, her caregiver and me).
Fourteen-year-old Hummel had cancer in all her mammal glands, had cataract in both eyes, was deaf, and as of last week developed a very bad ear infection. She was often gazing into nothing, cried in her sleep and couldn’t hold her bladder anymore. And thus, it once again points out why life can totally suck. *sigh*
Regretfully Hummel was a rescue dog, and since tenant really couldn’t stay in the room while the necessary had to be done, I helped her out into the waiting area to then return to little Hummel who’s had traumas from the day we brought her home as a present for tenant. Poor dog never did get over being touched, and though over the years she had mellowed enough to enjoy frequent pettings, during the past few months she had gotten worse again. Today was no different. In the end the overdose anesthetic did her in and she became quiet in my arms.
All three of us, sobbed like little girls, no matter how often we have gone through this particular ordeal before. It just sucks, there is no other way to describe it.
Let’s change the subject because this is making me depressed. It was a work day, so is more to tell.
First of all, I went past that restaurant/cocktail lounge I mentioned last week, and talked to the owner to see if she would agree to let me work there for a day, so I would be able to write about it.
I’ve got to admit that the idea is starting to appeal to me. I think I’m going to be brutally honest with the whole blog/column thing and explain that after fifteen years of being buried inside my books, it would be fascinating to discover if the jobs I’ve described in my stories, are even remotely true.
Worst-case scenario I’ll have something incredibly embarrassing to tell, best-case scenario, I’ll have interesting topics to talk about. We’ll just gonna have to wait and see how it works out, but so far I’ve made some tentative ventures as to places where to do it. There will be a really English Fish and Chips place, which I always pass on my paper route. The cocktail lounge/restaurant, and perhaps even a gym. It’ll be a fun experience to write about, I’m thinking.
But let’s not get ahead of things, first I’ve got all the arrangements to see to, then find a nice way to talk about it, and then…heck, then I might even open an entirely different page on blogger for it. Hah.
Be that as it may, let’s get back to the present. I went past the Indian restaurant again to talk with the owner about advertising, but he didn’t like the rather generous offer John Doe had made. So now we’ll go back to the me being distributor and him being a drop spot, and I am rather happy with that. They’re a rather intense lot over there, and stuff would just get more difficult in the end.
The route went fine, no hiccups this time, not even a flat tire, like last week, hah. I had a few nice chats, even with the waiter from the Indian restaurant, so we’ll just continue to chat when I come past. I also thanked the lady who suggested her daughter’s cocktail lounge, and she then informed me that her boss was likely to agree as well.
The weather wasn’t as pleasant as it could have been, but we had a bit miserly rain only in the end. There were massive clouds rumbling in from the west, though, and they looked mightily impressive, I’ve got to admit. Big piling clouds of a variety of slate gray and black, rolling in on this chilly, and fierce wind coming from the ocean. Both yesterday and today (it persisted) felt a little bit like some sort of fantasy movie/book, where the forces of evil come roaring closer, sweeping everything in its path. Of course the last part didn’t happen, but from the looks of things, it could have. Hah.
So anyways, we finished our official route around eleven thirty and then headed for the village for the last part. Afterwards I was seriously tired and dove into bed with my doggies, who were more than eager to share their warmth with me. Seriously, heat-wise a heating pad doesn’t compete with a 120 pounds Great Dane with more heat than you can imagine. I was toasty within less than half an hour. The darlings were so happy to see me, even Labhana wanted on the bed. She never does, but for about half an hour she just snuggled close and looked blissful while I held her close. Same goes for Chaos, by the way. He toddled his way to the head end of the way and flopped down to strike a supposedly attractive pose.
Today…well, I woke from a dream where I was babysitting the kids of Nicholas Cage and Tea Leoni (yeah, I know, Family Man. It’s been years since I saw the movie, and yet there they were as if I had seen it last night, or something). Rather weird dream.
The morning was spent taking our frozen veggies (you know, the ones we froze during the harvest season this summer) up to tenant’s so I could make ratatouille for our brunch.
While big brother stared on welding our planned imperial for the Land Rover, Grandpa and I started on planning and putting together tenant’s future solarium.
We gathered the wood that would be necessary, measured the glass we saved for this particular project, and started sawing. We’ve got the main frame all together and started on clean-up around six. Everything that could be done before tomorrow got done, and the rest, well, we’ll see if we can get to it ‘round tomorrow after we pick up our friend in Marbella.
That means we only need to go out three times this week because…oh, did I mention it already? Friday is the dreaded grocery shopping day. Seriously, where does the time go? I mean it, it’s not funny. The last time was already three weeks ago (come Friday) and yet, if I asked, I would swear a week and a half at most. I HATE grocery shopping day. *sigh*
No matter though, what has to be done gets done in the end.
Well, I for one am looking forward to writing now. I’ve got a book to finish and am glad for it.

A quicky.
Song of the day: “The four Season: Spring” from Vivaldi. Don’t ask me why, but the stupid tune keeps spinning through my head.
Where was I with the last blog? Gawd it is so hard to keep track of. I guess I’ll just have to guess, ‘cause I’m too darn lazy to check. Hah.
A bit of sad news first: Grandpa’s old husky, Picard passed away from old age. Poor fella. He hadn’t been doing too well for the past few months. His hearing was almost non-existent, his eyes didn’t function, and during the past couple of weeks his hips could no longer support him. So sad to see a once so proud and happy dog being reduced to that. But at least he didn’t suffer through a long and painful disease, and just past away in his sleep. He will be missed.
Let’s start with the edit/rewrite of “Calamity’s Luck”. It’s going slow, considering we’re still getting used to the new schedule, but we’re steadily making progress. Technicalities are straightened out, logistics dealt with, and the characters are shaping up nicely. We’ve decided to keep with the humor angle, ‘cause let’s face it, it is just too much fun not to. Think “Hudson Hawk”, “Moonlighting” without actually going into the slapstick. I don’t like slapstick, just a fun punch-line every now and then, and an occasional quirk in the character.
Okay, considering I have to fill space anyway, let me introduce you to the two main protagonists:
Calamity Stewart. She’s quirky to say the least. A former war correspondent who had a full career as a non-fiction author under the name C.S. Pennyworth. Considering she hated the character (you know, the person she was when she wrote about serious stuff), Calamity decided to let Pennyworth die and threw herself on her real passion: Fiction/romance writing…I mean really, given the choice, who wouldn’t want to do fiction when given the chance.
Now, the twist to Callie is that she literally is a walking disaster. And when I say disaster, I mean that literally. She goes on vacation, there’ll be some sort of natural catastrophe; she takes a plane and it will crash, or close to it. Elevators, or any modern day technology…forget it. Something will happen that’ll blow it up, make it malfunction, or whatever.
It leaves her all a tad aggravated to say the least.
Now, meet the hero, Alexander Jessup: Alex is an engineer/inventor, and he…well he’s fascinated by Callie, of course. Considering that he is basically a scientist, Alex doesn’t believe in bad luck. Regretfully, as he gets to know her, he is starting to see a distinct pattern of way too many coincidences that he simply cannot explain.
So the two characters meet, they fall in love and then…well I’m working on it. Hah.
Enough of writing stuff, let’s move on to the projects at hand.
Little sister and I spent the majority of the time working on her bed/closet, and as of this morning I declare them ready to put in. Yay. Just as soon as I finish today’s blog, had something to eat and basically caught my breath, we’ll start on the process of taking out the old bed and putting in the new. Gawd, I can’t wait to see what it looks like.
While we were doing the cabinets (hinges and handles needed to be put in) big brother started on the new front gate. He’s got one of the two frames welded now (it went really well, after not having handled the welding machine for such a long time) and by tomorrow we should start putting in the wood. It’ll be a nice task that’ll need each and every one of us to pull together for an afternoon to get it done.
We might have to hurry a bit, what with the clouds gathering over the area. We already had a bit of rain this morning and afternoon…which was rather annoying since I was in the midst of putting the last hinges in. Got it don, however, and the clouds broke apart again, allowing for the sun to shine again.
New plans are once again in the making…what with little sister’s project almost done, the mind starts to wander. Maybe a big ol’ closet for little brother, who has been complaining some about his old wardrobe closet, so what with the right supplies being available, a design is starting to take shape in my head. It should work out properly if he agrees to it. If not, I might just make it anyway and put it in the pantry for storage. A good solid big closet won’t be bad at all in there.
Middle sister’s new door is looking grand by the way. For the first time she actually has a hinge that functions. Hah. It still needs a lick of paint, but other than that it looks great.
And I’m going to stop here, ‘cause I still have to go through my messages before I need to get started on the remodel of little sister’s room.
