Song of the day: “I hope you dance” by Leann Womack. Still gorgeous, and I never really tire of it.
So I’m free, Free. FREE!... of work anyway. Hah. Yep, Saturday came and went, and the majority of our responsibilities left the country, meaning that we had one more day to go picking up those dogs I wrote about the other day, and bringing them back to their owner. This took a rough four hours of loading everything up, cleaning the place they’d been staying at, and then loading up the dogs as well. In total a relatively short, but heavy day that was remarkably hot and humid for some peculiar reason.
Did finish the afternoon taking a nap, which had my dogs absolutely ecstatic, of course. Also today was spent at home…a big part anyway, and they loved it. I missed being with them like this. Of course it was hard for grandpa having us afoot all day. It messed up all his routines. Normally he can do everything his own way at this own time, and now he had to dodge our presence so to speak. Hah. We’ll sort it out. With a little luck we’ll be doing some serious writing in the near future, meaning we’ll stay out of his way.
Besides sleeping in (not too long, because we had to drop the car off at the garage, grrrr) I did some serious cleaning in the kitchen. Not that grandpa isn’t hygienic, it is just that his way of storage is rather messy…as in, hey, there’s a free spot. Hah. No matter though, if gave me the opportunity to sort through our supplies, and we have plenty for the time being. Am going to have to start thinking about putting some time into proper cooking, in particular since we have been missing so many meals in the past few months. That just isn’t smart, so now we need to catch up with high nutritional values. I’ll need to give it some thought.
So what has been happening this past week? Well, a lot of it had to do with work, which involved packing, writing and rewriting lists, going over them, checking them, and then doing it all again until we got everything that needed to go…minus a few things that miraculously disappeared into thin air. Very strange. Ah well.
Also we have been a tad busy driving grandpa to and fro the local acupuncturist. The headache and neck pain were driving him bonkers, so he finally decided that he was going to try it. He’s had a solid four treatments now, and his headache appears to have gone, while some tension in his neck is still there. It seems to be working, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed.
Knightie-boy has an infection on his foot still. The bugger keeps licking it, so the healing is going rather slow. Silly boy, so much problems. Poor darling.
Well, just confirmed a day job on Friday…don’t ask, it ain’t nothing remotely interesting. Money is money, however. *sigh* Still waiting for the last paycheck after all.
Did some cleaning by the top of the yard. What with us always being out of time during the course of the day means that stuff piles up, so we spent some time doing that today. The weather has been mild for the time of year. A nice cool breeze keeps it all bearable, and I’m trying to get my legs tanned a little (nothing annoys me quite as much as while cones sticking out of pants legs. Grrr) which is difficult when you don’t outright sit down to sunbathe, right? But who’s got time…well I should have it, now that I think of it, I mean, I could sunbathe now, couldn’t I? Now the question is, would I have the patience for it? Hah.
Am working on a new story at the moment. It popped into my mind the other day, and since we didn’t have the energy to sit down and do some actual writing, we’ve been brainstorming this new idea a lot. The plot is fascinating, really. A story of mystery, deceit and vengeance. It’ll be a challenge for sure. At the moment the working title is “Utter deceit” but I’m not happy about it. We’ll see what we come up with once we start working on it. Right now there is only a rough plot line and some fascinating characters. It’ll be low on the romance, though. *sigh*
I have been reading Phantom of the Opera and am ashamed to admit that it took me almost three weeks to hack my way through it. Seriously, I’ve never taken this long to finish any story, 1 week was the most, and that was such a thick book I could have used it as a doorstop, but there you have it. I just didn’t like it, it didn’t draw me in, didn’t keep my attention in the way stories usually do. Instead I just kept checking how many more pages I still had to go. Strange.
Well, that is all I can think of at the moment. I’m sure there must be something more fascinating to tell about, but regretfully my brain is doing the “blank” thing again. Grrr.
