Stuff

Song of the day: “Hit the road Jack” by Buster Pointdexter, fun song, and not bad to have in your head on a day like today.

Well, let’s start with yesterday, shall we. It started off a little late, considering I didn’t manage to get to bed until three in the morning. I hate it when that happens, but there you have it. No amount of “hating” is going to help one bit, now will it? So I overslept by half an hour, and then had to rush through the morning rituals to get ready in time to drive caregiver, tenant and Sally to the local infirmary for their appointment.

Loaded tenant into the car, along with her wheelchair, drove to the village, helped them all out and then went to look for a spot to park for a bit. I’d taken my computer along so I spent the majority of the morning reading in the book I’m trying to review. Got quite a way through too, well past half, by the time I got the call that the ladies were ready to be picked up again.

The sun was out, nice and warm, but the northern wind made it not at all pleasant. Very nippy. Did some mild cleaning in the carport and on the road up to the gate, since everything has become a massive mess during our sickness this past month.

Since mom’s birthday arrived (I gave her a nice scarf for her birthday) she had a couple of friends come over for supper, which was nice for her. I got to play with a visiting dog for a bit, bound a mattress onto the visitor’s car and then went for a much needed nap, prior to leaving to pick up a nice sizeable donation in town. Took us quite some time to load up, but what the heck, it was well worth it.

Didn’t get home until it turned dark outside, so while big brother went down to light the stove and start cooking the dog food, while I went to the kitchen to cook our own dinner. Had some leftovers from the day before, and added some fresh cauliflower to that, making a rather nice meal.

Editing didn’t go all that bad both yesterday and today. Managed a total of thirteen pages, I think, so that’s a good thing. This morning went best, in fact, so in that regard I’m pretty happy. We’ll get this book worked out yet, despite that we will have to do some research on WWII.

Nanook, one of our last huskies, is not doing well. Considering she’s almost fourteen years old, has cancer in several spots, that is not a strange thing, but still, it is sad to see a proud husky that way, so old, getting skinnier and grumpier every day. Time’s passing oh-so fast.

Knight II did it again yesterday. He’d wrecked his sock, and by the time I noticed he had licked open his skin again, until it bled, darn it. Had to clean it all out, bandage it up, and put a new sock on, just to keep his persistent tongue away from the newly created mess. Darn it, what is wrong with that dog. Sometimes I fear he’ll just keep licking until he’s eaten away his friggin’ paw.

Did laundry, which luckily dried again these past couple of days. Though the temps are low, the sun is out and the wind is blowing everything dry. The dogs had to be fed, of course, and they loved it. This variety of fresh veggies, spices, bread and an occasional batch of meat is really working for them.

As for today, we had planned to work some on the window for the future kitchen, but didn’t get to it since we first had to unload the car (took more than an hour) and put everything away in storage. Then, just as we were about to start, mom called if we could come to town with the Land Rover to pick up a donated fridge. So we locked up the dogs, drove down the mountain, picked up the machine, and got a nice big aloe vera plant as an added bonus.

Once at home I once again cooked supper, broccoli, peas, potatoes and a herbal sauce, that worked out even better than yesterday’s meal. So there was some more editing, which was of course interrupted by today’s blog that had to be done. *sigh* Nothing really fun to share, is there. Well, can’t have it all.

This is it, I’m ready to call it a night.

Life goes on

Song of the day: “Rapper’s delight” by the Sugarhill gang, which I’ve had in my head before, and undoubtedly will again.

So yeah, didn’t sleep well yesterday because I woke early from a rather fretful dream where supposedly I was trying to check out the Abna results, but the texts were all gibberish, and I was already slowly waking up, telling myself I wasn’t going to sacrifice sleep over this, and stubbornly tried to sleep on…only to give up at eight thirty and turning on my computer. And yes, like I said yesterday, we’re IN THE NEXT ROUND.
How awesome is THAT?!

And what’s better, I got my first two editorial reviews (feedback) on why it got through. They were wonderful, except for a mention of some typos there was basically nothing negative about either of them, one was even rather raving, and I’m, like, THRILLED! Both reviewers want to read what will happen next, so I would say that’s a definite compliment.

But enough about that, it is back to we’ll see of course, so let’s see what else has been happening.

Well, there were huge loads of laundry, of course, in particular since the bad weather prevented it from drying. But yesterday the whole lot was finally dry, so that was a lot of folding to do.
Gawd am I happy that the weather turned. Sure, it’s a lot colder now, but at least we have sunshine during the day again. Yay.

Went into the yard to harvest a load of broccoli again, along with two fresh lettuces and three huge, gorgeous cauliflowers that we immediately ate for supper along with a nice big batch of potatoes and cream. Yummy. It was wonderful down there? So green, so beautiful, even with the load of weeds that we should start getting out of there some day soon.

Tenant didn’t do so well yesterday, the post hospital blues started, I fear, in particular since we are not able to give her the same luxury treatment as she got there. Makes it all a lot less fun, for her. Same goes for today. We are actually a bit worried, and happy that she has an appointment at the GP tomorrow morning.

There were edits. Not as many as I would have liked, but edits nonetheless. However, focusing was rather hard tonight, what with the discovery of the review, so today we did even less. *gasp* Ah who cares, what’s another day, right?

Flu-wise, stuff is looking up. Slowly but steadily this old bag of bones is getting better. Cough is receding a little, bones hurt a little less, and energy levels get a little higher. Even managed a short jog today, so yay! It was so nice to momentarily exert myself again (regardless of the occasional coughing fit I caused, hah) and do something physical after almost a month of semi-inactivity.

Had an appointment this morning with a woman who has agreed to try and teach big brother and me some better Spanish. Yep, we decided to give it a shot. Seriously, nothing is quite as annoying as not being able to make yourself understood, and this woman is willing to take us on, so we might as well try. This will mean lessons for two hours a week, every Wednesday for the next month, starting next week. Guess we’ll have to see how that goes, too, huh?

Had to do some groceries in regards to mom’s b-day on Friday. She’s having friends over, so she asked us to pick some stuff up in town. Since we had to go there anyway, we volunteered for it.
I even got her a present. Hah.

Sally fell this morning, cutting up her leg, so when we go to the GP with tenant tomorrow, we’re taking her along as well, because the blood isn’t clotting properly. Gotta be careful with stuff like that after all. While caregiver and I see to that in the morning, big brother and grandpa are heading to the village to get bread for dog food.

Worked a bit on the window for the future kitchen. Got all the frame sides sawed, now so the next time we can start putting them together. It’ll look good, I think. And it’ll be sturdy.

The dogs...well, they're their usual wonky selves, making nuisances of themselves. In particular Knight II who has, at the moment, an over abundance of energy (I blame the bad weather) goo thing we went for a jog, because he needed the exercise.

Well, I’m tired, and I can’t think of anything else that is remotely interesting (there might be something, but for the life of me I can’t remember) so I think I might be ready to start heading to bed. Like yesterday, I didn’t sleep all that well this night. I woke up from some wonky nightmare of gaping wounds that freaked me out, so I lay awake for more than an hour trying to get that imagery out of my head. Where the heck that came from, I have no clue.

Okay, I’m off.

Third Round!!!

So yeah, a quick in-between here.

I discovered this morning Saving Nina went through to the next round. You can check it out here: http://www.amazon.com/Saving-Nina-ABNA-Entry-ebook/dp/B00B9N8O8M/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1363083313&sr=8-7&keywords=samaya+young
Maybe read the excerpt, vote a little *eyebrow wiggle* if you can, feel like it, and enjoy what you read?

Gawd, I never expected it to get this far, but there you go. Very exciting.

I almost indie-published this one (and still might, at some point)and this here picture, is the type of cover I had in mind. (Made by talented little brother).

*sigh*
Would be grand, wouldn't it?

Ah well, we'll...you know what I'm going to say, right? "WE'LL SEE!"
Any vote at Amazon would be appreciated, so thanks in advance.

Something good, something bad

Song of the day: “Please don’t say you love me” by Gabrielle Aplin. Such a cute little song. Only recently heard it on the radio, then found it online yesterday. It’s been in my head since then. *sigh* Funny thing is, I thought that the song was very much in style with Ed Sheeran, and then I discovered that she’s the opening act of his tour, or was, whatever. How’s that for coincidences.

Well, good news first. Tenant came home today. Cousin Ed went there for a visit, and was informed that she could take her home that very afternoon. Yay for tenant. It took several hours to arrange for her release, but before twilight they came home, with tenant in remarkably good spirits.

Personally, my weekend has not been all that splendid. The flu decided to return, and boy did it hit me in the face again. Started on Saturday with this odd tingle in my lungs and then hit me full-force on Sunday. The majority of yesterday was spent in bed, sleeping the hours away, and coughing my lungs from my chest. *snort* But seriously, I’m experiencing a serious relapse. Tired as heck, weak, and, well, sick. Even today, I would have liked nothing better than to stay under the blankets and forget about the world at large.

The only ones benefiting from this mess are the dogs, who absolutely love the quality time in bed with me. Seriously, Chaos, Knight, Tadaika, Sitabah and Dax have appointed themselves to my personal stoves and are making the horrible cold during the fever pitches manageable. So sweet, their faces close to mine, the tugs of war for the blankets. Gawd, it’s like a slumber party. *snort*

Edit-wise we didn’t manage a lot, nor did I get much writing done. I think in total, we managed about ten pages the past few days (big brother isn’t his old self yet either), so that’s a bust. Gawd. I want summer to come back. This cold weather is totally not helping my flu. Only plus was that the market didn’t go through either, due to the weather. I really didn’t want to imagine myself over there, coughing like mad as soon as I move faster than a snail. Hah.

Well, that’s it for today. I wish I had something awesome to say…besides tenant being home, that is, but alas, fate won’t oblige at the moment. *sigh*
