Big event.

Song of the day: “I want you back” by Cleopatra. I know, officially it’s from the Jackson 5, but I found the original version to be a tad chaotic. Cleopatra cleaned it up nicely. Hah.

Sooooooo...oh, nice to sit down for a bit. Got some nice music going (Harry Nelson’s “Coconut”), the sun is shining, the view is splendid, and got fresh veggies and OJ waiting for breakfast; what more do you want? Nothing, ‘tis all good this way...the past two day, let’s get to them shall we.

Let’s see, yesterday we attacked the vines for at least an hour. They’re everywhere again, and while we were at it, we also harvested our first basket full of tomatoes. We’ve got Italians, cherries, moneymakers, Brandywines, seriously there’s so many I’m already dreading the amount we’ll have in less than a week. We also have a huge basket full with green beans, by the way, plucked them myself this morning.

Onions are also sprouting all over the place, which is like, yay! I love onions. We’ll also have another batch of cauliflower today…which reminds me, I should go down later and get it.
Hmmm, herbs too. They’ll go nice with today’s lunch. Okay, salivating, excuse me for a moment he while I wipe it off. Hah.

Right, the big event of the week was yesterday afternoon when caregiver and I took tenant to the pool and helped her to float in the water for the first time in two years. It was a whole production, what with climbing up the stairs and then down again to get in, and then out again of course, but it was well worth it, I assure you. Once she was floating she was ecstatic, almost in tears, really, and truly enjoyed herself. By the time we got her back to her place, she was of course exhausted, but nothing a good night’s rest didn’t cure.

Lots of excitement going on in Spain this past week. Football (soccer) season is in full swing and since Spain is in the finals the country is basically bursting at the seams from mad anticipation. Hah. Seriously, every game Spain won (for some reason big brother and I managed to be in town on those very nights) the locals would be cruising through town with flags, honking their horns and screaming out the windows. Sport spirit, it amazes me every time. Hah.

We had another batch of chard last night, which was delicious. Seriously, those beet relations are really paying off this year. I swear, if we wanted to, we could eat the stuff three to four times a week, hah. Since big brother and I, as well as tenant and grandpa, are the only ones who really like the stuff, we only eat it once a week, of course.

Touri (my black Cocker Spaniel) is feeling neglected this past week, so every time he gets the chance, he’ll sneak through the gate and join me on the terrace so he can sleep on my feet. Really annoying that, by the way, but as long as he doesn’t start to wander through the veggies, it isn’t all that big a problem.

The dogs are, at the moment, really enjoying our abundant zucchini harvest, really, you haven’t seen anything until you’ve seen fully grown dogs fight for a piece of zucchini (or tomato, or cauliflower, or beet, or patato, or apples for that matter) while there is plenty to go around. Labhana (my black lab) will literally barge through the masses, scooping up pieces like a vacuum cleaner, looking all cheery as if saying: “oh, food! That’s nice! And that too, and that, and that,” lustily chewing all the while.
Nuts, I tell ya.

The edit is going well too. Managed another twelve pages yesterday afternoon, bringing me to a cheerful enough mood when we stopped for the day and headed on up to pour another three square yards, or so.
Got it all done too, so by the time the day came to an end, I was really ready to hit the sack…and did, hard! Gawd, I could sleep at least ten more hours, but that’s the anemia talking, I think. Hah.

Well, time to get to the edit. Seeya Sunday, I guess.

Bonkers.

Song of the day:...hmmm, I don’t remember, actually. I was in too big a hurry this morning, and for the past four hours (edits, ick!) I’ve been listening to Itunes. *sigh*
I do remember that I had Belinda Carlyle’s “Prayer for everyone” in my head. Yes, I know, a rather unusual song for me, but it’s nice.

What’s been going on…well, I had my doctor’s appointment yesterday. Got to hear my test results which weren’t as bad as I feared and yet annoying nonetheless.
Let’s start with blood results: Calcium was fine (which was the main reason he wanted to have me tested) but my magnesium was a bit too low which could be the reason for my muscle cramps and such.

Also, I apparently have quite a bit of anaemia…which really doesn’t come as much of a surprise what with my tiredness which refuses to cease no matter how much I sleep, my heavy monthlies, and vegetarian lifestyle. Seriously, I could have told him that up front, but apparently he needed to have it in writing, or something.

Of course, he can’t just prescribe me something for this, nope, he wants another blood test to see if it is iron or b12 deficiency. Duh, like it would harm to get a bit of both in. Ah well, at least this crap is insured.

Okay, the foot…which was of course the main reason why I went to the dude at all. Like I suggested on my first day there, it turns out I have Plantar’s fasciites…ah the usefulness of talking to folks on the KTT Amazon discussions. I’d already dreaded this particular result, darn it. But apparently I have the fun one: with the heel spur, yay! Yep, I’m forming a spur on my heel, and I’m thrilled, I tell ya. Thrilled! *snort*

Stupid bone. Why is it making more bone, when I’ve got already more than enough of the stuff to last me a life time. I mean, really, repair some of my knee caps, have at it…but no, of course the ol’ bod has to do something that is both useless and painful. I’m thinking lawsuit. What do you think the chances are of getting an emotional damage re-compensation from my body? Wouldn’t that be effing grand? Hah.

But enough joking. I’m gonna get another blood test, I’m going to eat iron and magnesium rich foods, maybe even choke on some chicken and loads of dairy product for a possible B12 deficiency and then maybe show that doctor that I really am not in the mood for pills. Been there, done that, and being pretty sure that that’s where the problems started in the first place. How’s the body supposed to get the proper nutrients from healthy food when it is so very spoiled with swallow ready nutrients that went down my throat for so many years.
Gotta cowboy up. *grins*

Edit’s going well. Less than thirty pages to go before we’re halfway through, so with a little luck we’ll be done with this edit at the end of summer, meaning that we’ll be able to get started on at least one send-out before winter. It will be interesting to see what kind of query letter will develop for this one. It should be fun.

What else? Ah yes, we sowed some veggies; red cabbage, cauliflower, lettuce and spinach, and transplanted some peppers, aloe vera, and strawberries. The latter are so tiny and cute, you just want to talk baby talk to them…or at least, I do.

I’m thinking that maybe I’m going a bit bonkers, because I find myself talking to non speaking objects and creatures. Dogs, of course, plants, a lot, and most importantly rocks. Yes, I am not ashamed to admit it; I talk with rocks. I mean, seriously, what is a girl to do when she is standing in front of a massive pile of rocks and sees the perfect rock, right there, within reach, just waiting to be picked up and carried down to whatever is being constructed at the moment.
“Well, Hellooh there pretty thing. Oh my, aren’t you pretty. Yes, you are. Come to mama, let me just bring you to your new home, where you will feel right at home. That’s it. There’s a good rocksy. No, you’re not heavy at all; light as a feather, I promise…”
And so on, and on. It’s not pretty, really. I often hear chuckles from unseen spectators, but I pay it no heed. Rocks are also just people and they too need TLC. Hah.

Enough funny talk. I really should shut down and get to work. We’re going to pour the last bit of concrete that will connect the carport floor to the path, so with a little luck it’ll be all done before nightfall. Besides my dogs are impatiently waiting by the fence, hoping that I’ll come their way soon where they can at least try to trip every other step. Hah.

Gotta go.

Late! Grrr.

Song of the day: “Misfit” by Amy Studt. Such a funny song. Makes me smile every time.

I’m late, I know, I know. Couldn’t be helped, really: Yesterday was grocery shopping day and I was out ‘till seven in the evening, then had to water plants and had to go out again to get another load of gravel so we can start pouring concrete again today. A busy day by all means, but Knight II got his walk while we got the gravel so all is well. Hah.

There really isn’t a lot going on at all, except that the day before yesterday we had a really awful edit---we got no more than seven pages done in seven hours. I think it was our mood more than anything, seeing the writing wasn’t any different from the past few weeks, but it is rather frustrating, to say the least.

We’re getting there, though. Crossed the one third of the way just the other day, so the edit is going a lot fast than the last one. I still love the characters, so that is definitely a plus. She’s adorably innocent; he’s dark, mysterious and dangerous…what more can a girl ask of a romance novel, hah.

The yard…well the tomatoes are starting to ripen. I mean, really, they’re turning red all over the place and they look bloody delicious. A much deeper red than the ones in the store, almost too sweet and small, but absolutely delicious on a CLT. (cheese, tomato and lettuce) Already my mouth is watering for today’s lunch, which is less than half an hour away, mind you.

I’m curious about tomorrow’s doctor’s appointment. I wonder if they found anything on the X-rays or on the blood test. The foot hurt like f…ehm, heck yesterday, that much I know, but I am starting to suspect that it has more to do with stress than anything. I mean, seriously, whenever I’m worried about finances, or (heaven forbid) the friggin’ publisher saying no…which is a stupid thing to worry about since a no won’t change anything, it’ll just mean searching on…the stupid appendage will hurt more.

It would mean that there is a simple solution: STOP worrying! Aaaargh.
I’m working on it, really. My present mantra is, once again, I don’t care about things I cannot change…and everything is changeable, in time. *sigh*
Very true, but at times a concept that is difficult to grasp.

What else…ah yes. The balustrade we were building: That one is done, yes! It’s looking pretty darn good too, so, yeah, I gotta post pictures. How many times have I promised to do so now? It is going to be a bitch to post a hundred pictures. Hah. But anyway, the path is working well, easy to stroll on for tenant, and as soon as the ground has hardened it’ll be even easier. I like the look, very ranch-like, for some reason, except, of course, for the tropical colors. Hah.

Well, this is going to have to do for today. Considering we didn’t get to the edit yesterday (dontcha just hate them busy days) we’ve got many pages to make up for. Gotta go.
