Song of the day: “Thank God I’m a country boy” by John Denver, of course.
Another busy couple of days, naturally. What else is new, right? That seems to be par for the course this summer.
Yesterday was an official workday for big brother and me. The temps weren’t as pleasant as the other day. The Mercury hit the nineties around noon and so much went wrong that I wondered for a bit if it was worth staying.
First off, big brother was feeling a little off. The night before he’d vomited. Caregiver had to stay at the hospital until two in the morning, meaning that we got a call to come pick her up about an hour after we went to bed. We’d planned on that by going to bed despite the fact that she wasn’t home yet, and since we didn’t think it smart that either of us would drive there alone with our sleepy heads, we opted to go together for safety reasons. He was already feeling bad when I phoned him awake, and then when we got home round four in the morning, he started retching in the middle of the terrace. Fun, that. But anyway, we both rushed to bed and slept ‘till nine instead of the planned eight, went through all the necessary chores such a feeding the dogs and checking everything that we didn’t leave home until ten thirty. Then, just as we were about to reach Alozaina (village near the job site) to get the first load of sand, I discovered that I had forgotten my purse and…the house keys!!! Aaaaargh. "Stupid is, stupid does," right?
So I called home to have grandpa check (yes it was at home), at which point he agreed to drive the moped half the way (he remembered the route pretty well from back in the day when he had a gardening job in the area) and then give me my purse and a bottle of pre-mixed fuel for the mower. Luckily he rather enjoyed the ride.
But anyway, before I could meet him halfway big brother and I had to unload the car of some 800 pounds of gravel and some 1900 pounds of sand from the trailer. Then there were all the tools to get out, and the wheelbarrow from the top, and before that was done it was already one o’clock, meaning that I had to hurry to get at least the bags of cement from the construction company…
Which reminds me. I LOVE• computers. I had ordered ten bags of cement and three times half a cubic meter of sand which I would come pick up during the course of the day. Now, the trick is that on cubic meter of sand costs about 18 bucks, while half a cubic meter will cost you 13 bucks. Fun part would be that the computer would accept three halfs and kept making it into one and a half. He ended up having me pay for one cubic and a half, meaning we got a bit of a discount paying our expenses for hauling it up there. The location is a little iffy for bigger transports so our solution is to haul it up there bit by bit…which would be practically impossible without a 4X4.
But anyway, I had planned to take the trailer so I could pick up both cement and sand on the way back from meeting grandpa, but since unloading took so long I decided to not take the trailer and only pick up cement before siesta closing time. Had to explain to the women at the counter what had occurred that morning and waited outside while the youngest of the two followed me out and looked at the lift truck. She doubted and then asked me to put the car with the pallet of bags. I said fine, put it there and then shrugged when she disappeared inside. There were ten of them, so I loaded the ten up, not realizing that there was this dude watching me do exactly there somewhat confusedly. I was just about done when the guy who’d helped me that morning arrived. Apparently the girl had called him to load up, so he was a tad surprised when I’d already done it. Like I’m going to give up a chance on weightlifting now that I don’t have time to do that at home. *snort* Spanish folks get it even less when a girl does construction work. Hah.
I got back on site at one thirty where big brother had spent his time spreading the gravel where it needed to be and watering the plants, and doing some more mowing. We unloaded and then took some time to eat lunch, do some writing, and a very, very short nap, all three during the hottest two hours of the day.
At four, once they were open again, I arrived at the construction company where I got another load of sand. The entire trip takes me about forty minutes, seeing as going back up the mountain means going about 9 mph in many places.
Third trip over and done with, and nicely sore from unloading and wheelbarrow-ing the cement and first two loads of sand to where big brother had set up the concrete mixer for me, I got to mixing concrete. Unloading the last load would have to wait until the end of the day.
All in all, I hauled about 15 70 pound bags of cement around the place, so I definitely got my fitness done.
Mixed several loads of concrete for big brother while he did the masonry on the small wall that is going to keep the new floor in place once we start pouring. It will be natural rock, so it’ll look nice at least, and fit the general idea of the yard.
Did get my fair share of puzzling with rocks, though, while I shoveled concrete for big brother and hauled more rocks in for his use.
Since I had Knight there on his own, I decided, when I saw that his foot was rather swollen again, to remove his bandage entirely and just keep track of him. He did rather well most of the day, but regretfully, by the end of the day, he tore open one of his calluses, which had me wrap him back up just to be safe.
After seven the temps dropped nicely, and boy was I happy for that fifteen minute nap when we finally called it a day at nine fifteen (had to make the normal eight hours after me messing up like that after all) and started cleaning everything up…not to mention that we still had to unload that sand. Hah.
That took until well after dark, and driving home certainly was interesting. Hah.
Was in bed at twelve thirty and out for the count about three minutes later. *sigh*
Tenant is still at the hospital, and not happy about it. I can imagine, but since she refuses to drink most of the time, there is really nothing I can do about it. She’ll have to decide what is more important to her. Getting out of hospital or holding on to her dislike for drinking. We’re going to look her up tomorrow after the Land Rover’s MOT.
Then, before I knew it my phone was ringing. Cousin Ed telling me it was nine in the morning while I had told her the night before that I was planning to get up at eight so I could get some writing done. Drat. Did have enough sleep, so in that regard it wasn’t a disaster, eh?
No time for anything this morning, though. I had done no substantial Spanish the entire week, and since I first had to go to the vet (he’s doing well so I won’t have to be back until four days from today, yay!) then had to go through the village getting all sorts of stuff for mom in establishments that had miles of rows waiting at the registers. I was all in a tiffy about the complete shortage of time when I finally got home, about fifteen minutes before we had to leave for Spanish lessons. I would have been able to get some of my homework done too, if I hadn’t needed to change out of my grubby sweats, and get some food into my gut before the morning coffee departed entirely and left my stomach bare. Grrr.
Ended up reading some of Jack Vance’s Dirdir in the car, meaning I at least had Spanish in my head when we arrived at class. The lesson didn’t go bad either, so I guess not all was bad. Actually learned quite a bit and she complimented us that we are coming along nicely. Good thing, that, because in my darkest moments I sometimes doubt. Hah.
Spanish lessons over and done with, we headed for town for a pick up, which thankfully didn’t take as long as it could have. Then we rushed back home to work on the car and prepare it for tomorrow’s MOT.
Yep. There were the seatbelts that had to be fixed, all sorts of messes to remove from inside and outside, and the whole thing to wash from top to bottom. Our baby is looking beautiful now, thank you very much, with everything that we could get fixed, fixed. Hah.
Got a phone call from AuthorHouse trying to sell me a promotion package for “Trust Me” Said the Spy. Not that I don’t want to invest in my book, but seriously, at the moment we worry about paying the month’s bills and buying frivolous stuff like food, paying some odd 600 bucks for promotion that didn’t work the first time round is not even on my top hundred list. *sigh* Was a nice young fellow, though, and I could hardly blame him for needing to make a living. So I let him do his spiel, explained the situation to him, before we chatted a little about the dogs and said our goodbyes. By then I was starving because I missed lunch and was well passed supper time. *sigh*
Next there was a quick dip into the pool, followed by a short writing session before my stomach started to crawl its way up and started hitting my brain demanding where the food was. Headed up to finish up the tomato soup Cousin Ed had started on, made fondue and took the whole lot down for a quick supper while working on my computer.
Managed about a page at least, at which time I had to start on today’s blog…which I now declare done. I’m off to bed. Yay!
Notice:
I can't predict when I have the time to post a new blog, but check occasionally. I'm going to try at least weekly.

Time tied
Song of the day: “Sweet Goobye” by Krezip. Strange song to have in your head, in particular since it is so sad. Hmmm.
Well, sleep has been rather short again the past couple of days. Who cares, right? I’ll sleep when I’m dead, or something. Hah. The biggest problem at the moment is that I have to go to the vet twice a day to drop Knight off, and pick him up again, because I don’t want him to spend the night on his own there, poor darling. Even with this, he is incredibly sticky when we get home…although now, some odd three hours after coming home, he’s stretched out on the bed, snoring liked a sawing machine, for crying out loud.
But anyway, the day was pretty much filled to full capacity. First there is laundry to hang, followed by dropping Knight off, while big brother fed the dogs. Right after, grandpa in the car with me, I headed straight through to the hospital to visit with tenant. She was in good spirits, thankfully, and eagerly awaiting her book, glasses, and dental glue! Stubborn as always, promising that she had learned her lesson, and would drink more once she got home…the way she always does when she ends up in hospital, I’ll not hold my breath this time either. *sigh*
I did warn her that we might not be able to come by tomorrow (today) due to the fact that we were still without the Land Rover (blasted bank Holidays) and that we had to go to Spanish class, , and after that maybe pick up the car, and go to town for a donation kind of thing. (I’ll explain later.) She looked a little down because of it, but she understood, of course.
A doctor breezed through while I was there. She has to be on antibiotic again, and has to stay for several days, once again. The moment I asked something, he was looking at his watch. I know this twat, of course. Met him before, but I explained that I would not be able to come and visit the next day, to which he assured me that I wouldn’t need to worry, it was fine. *sigh* Arrogant is the word you’ll find him under, I tell ya.
But anyway, grandpa and I said our goodbyes, and headed back home. Tried to do some writing, but there was too much to do, like the bathroom. Worked with silicone, closing off the corners and such, which took some time.
Sally appears to be doing a little better. At least she is coherent with less of the opiates in her system. Luckily, so far, she isn’t experiencing more pain either, so it seems it is working. Maybe all the screaming, moaning and uncooperativeness has everything to do with wrong medication. I sure hope so, because we were already contemplating finding a different solution for her living arrangements since she would not let us help her at all and was just sitting there, basically rotting away. I gotta say that I don’t know what the doctors are thinking prescribing meds like that? What use is it to give the patient something that will just make them stop functioning entirely?
Such troubles exhaust me, I must admit.
*sigh*
Dinner, yesterday (after I picked up Knight who appears to do a little better, too) involved red beets and potatoes, which were absolutely delicious…heck, we even ate them again this morning, which started early because we’re going to try to get up earlier in order to be able to do more in the day…don’t worry, that means we’re going to bed earlier too (hopefully) simply because in the evenings we are too tired to do much on the book. With a little luck we’ll be able to do a few pages in the morning before we start with the day.
So we were early this morning, as planned, only to discover that mom had planned to go to town to pick up a load of free dog food. She needed big brother for that, so he could go with her in the van, while cousin Ed and grandpa took Sally to the health center in the village. She had an appointment.
I fed the dogs on my own, printed out a few pamphlets for Samaya Photography, sorted through a stack of my photographs to get a portfolio ready, ate while doing that, and tried to do some Spanish.
Since big brother wasn’t home on time, I took the opportunity to drive Knight to the vet again, the moment the Opel was back. I was late, naturally, but it was okay, and I was back twenty past eleven, with just enough time to add two more sentences to my homework.
Were about ten minutes late at Spanish class, but it was okay, the teacher didn’t mind, and we even kept up until ten minutes past the normal time to make up for the loss. No photo session, again, according to the teacher my future model wants to have “the perfect” dress for the occasion. Whether it is true, or if she changed her mind, I don’t know. But I didn’t mind that the appointment was cancelled. Had to go and pick up the car, yay!
Got there after three, paid the bill. Yikes! Hung some pamphlets there, and several other locations, split up with the two cars and separately made our way home. Cooking then, of course, unloading, dragging the van from inside the gate because the sibs needed unload the dog food. We are going to need to get that all stored tomorrow, which reminds me that I need to wrap this up to go bed right about now. Grrr.

Vaccination stuff
Song of the day: "Dream a little dream" by the Beautiful South. Love this song, and I have it my head a lot, but I don't mind.
So, yesterday was vaccination day, meaning we rushed through the morning rituals, fed the dogs quick as possible, and then waited for the vet to arrive. It went on without a hitch, and we did the whole vaccination bit in no time at all. Went well, we'd prepared properly, the vet was relaxed, and we processed the lot, and had her quickly check those we thought who might not be in a well enough state for their shots. In the end she decided that the shots wouldn't harm them, so we got them all done, as planned.
Here are a few shots throughout the thing. I didn't do them all, don't worry. Hah
The Vet. Paqui Torrico from the veterinary in the village. She was nice enough to pose for me.
The poor four-legged ones waiting for the vet.
The intended spot of the coming event...regretfully it didn't work out that way. Hah.
Tiny Atma went first, trying to be brave, and managing really well. I was afraid she would scream instead.
Olivier, looking as if he's going to be slaughtered, naturally.
Chamea, all brave with big brother right behind her.
Tadaika, aware that something is going to happen, and wary of it.
Ama, giving moral support to Sita III. She didn't like it.
"Okay, they've killed me, I'm sure of it" Tammi seemed to think. *sigh*
I had little Manni on here as well, but he was acting like an energy bunny once again, and disappeared from view the moment I took the shot.
She also looked at Knight II's ear, but it looks like she's going to have to add another stitch, or two, but it will be tomorrow.
Did some writing, of course, both today and yesterday. Along with edits of the stuff that Big Brother already worked his way through. It took several hours, but it had to be done. Had to go to the veggie center, yesterday and today, in particular because yesterday there wasn't enough for more than one dog meal. *sigh* Luckily we got a good batch today.
Today was Spanish lesson day of course, meaning we got up a little early this morning so we'd have some time to practice our Spanish before leaving. Arrived only a few minutes late, more because I forgot to check my watch along the way. No matter, though. Got there, did our lessons, and then made an appointment for next week where we'll meet after lessons with the lady who is willing to pose for me, and our teacher and her daughter, which should make for an interesting session at the very least. Let's hope nothing gets between that...and that the car will be back around that time. *sigh*
After lessons big brother and I went up to the hospital to see tenant, and hopefully take her home, but regretfully her infection hasn't been brought under control yet, so she has to stay another day...maybe even too. She was a bit down from the news, but it couldn't be helped. She's hanging in there.
There was cooking to be done, ratatouille with patties yesterday, and chili with bread today. Went down just fine, thank you very much. Didn't have time to do anything in the kitchen, heck, didn't have much time for anything, but what the hey. Well, this will just have to be a short blog, because I am going to call it a day.

A little bit of Advertising.
Song of the day: “Don’t worry, be happy” By Bobby McFerrin. It has been my mantra since yesterday and it has been helping. Hah.
First of, Tenant. Nothing too serious, relatively speaking that is, but yesterday she was admitted into hospital once more, because she suddenly developed a fever and started vomiting. She spent the night and it turns out a new kidney stone is blocking her kidney again. She’s going to have to stay a few days so they can put a tube directly in her kidney, like before. For a change she wasn’t thrilled to go to hospital, and I think it was because lately she’d been doing much better, and even improving a little. I do hope that this is not going to set her back a lot again. *sigh*
Another bit of bad news is the Land Rover. Apparently the “steering box” sprung some sort of leak, meaning we’re going to have to get that fixed before the MOT next month. Grrr. Worst case scenario we’ll be without the car for four to five days, or pay 800 bucks for a new box. Guess we’ll be without the car then. *sigh* Got an appointment in two weeks. Must not forget to jot that down.
Next week the vet will be here for the morning to vaccinate the dogs, which is obligatory, of course. I always get frustrated when I think about all the things that are obligatory, for which you are also obliged to pay. I don’t get who thought of that sneaky way to earn money, but whoever did, is one mean son of a gun. In fact, that person should be shot. In fact, if something is obligatory by law, it should be completely free. That’s what taxes are for, right?
But anyway…I might get my first official photo session some day soon. A friend of our Spanish teacher apparently loves being photographed, and considering she’s pretty (according to our teacher) she might be willing to pose for me in exchange for some nice photos. Should be a fascinating experience.
Which reminds me, I promised our teacher María that I would mention her here for all you expats here in Spain who want to learn Spanish but are just not getting anywhere the regular way. She will work with groups, or one on one, your choice, and you can go to her, agree on a meeting place, or she will come to your place. Maria has a new special method of “learning in conversation” while having fun in a relaxed atmosphere…something to which I will attest, of course. I like it. It’s not just learning words, grammar and such, but it’s also a way of getting to know another person, see what their interests are. Basically interacting while learning Spanish at the same time.
Phone MARÍA RAMOS at 679 94 20 54
Give her a ring some time if you want to learn Spanish, I did. Hah.
Okay, enough advertising. Where was I?
Oh yeah, I managed to get some stuff done in the kitchen. Raised the last bit of the front wall to the final height, which wasn’t as easy as it should have been, but worked out, thankfully. Worked with red bricks and concrete, so the next time round we can start putting in the window there too.
There was the yard to look after, naturally. Got a bit of harvest in, some herbs for supper and all that. Oh, and I managed to write to my pen pall abroad. Took me forever to get around to it, seeing how insane everything has been lately. *sigh* But got him updated on the events. I do hope he's doing alright.
Knight II had the last of his stitches removed, despite the fact that there was still a bit of inflammation going. Problem with the Knight is that he has allergic reactions to his stitches, so in order to find out what’s causing the inflammation, the vet had to remove them. Now I have to squeeze out his ear twice a day, the poor darling.
The weather is still absolutely wonky. Temps are staying mid-seventies up here in the mountains, while normally the temps would be up to high nineties this time of year. Very strange, I’ve been wearing sweaters, for crying out loud. I mean seriously, there are clouds, and last night it even looked like it was going to rain for a bit…it didn’t (darn it) but it looked like it was going to.
Practiced Spanish of course, so I had plenty of sentences today…which turned out to be unnecessary because we got to talking about life in general, like usual. Hah. Ah well, it’ll just mean that next week we’ll just have more phrases to go over.
Dog food yesterday involved feeding them dry bread. Seriously, there’s a bunch of them that act as though we’re feeding them raw meat. Three to four pieces will get caught into mid-air and then carried off to be eaten at a leisured pace. It’s hysterical. Chaos ate so much, in fact, that he puked half of it out afterward. Hah. Silly Chaos. This morning it was back to normal food, which the picky eaters enjoyed more than usual.
Got some more photography done, including the rather becoming picture of María up there. I like it. I’m getting a diverse selection, and am curious where I will be able to take this thing in the future. It is nice to notice that I can still snap that shot I see in my head, and make it look the way I intended. Just keep an eye out for Samaya’s View and see if you can enjoy those shots as much as I do.
Writing has been an off and on thing. Did some, but mostly edited the stuff that big brother already went through. It allows me to really look into what I already wrote, so there won’t be too many repetitions we’ll have to remove in the future. I still like the characters, despite the fact that they have their faults.
Well, that’s it for me. Did the blog early for a change, since I really would like to get some writing done tonight. Okay. Better get started.

Grout work
Song of the day: “Beneath your beautiful” by Labrinth and Emeli Sandé.
Long day, as usual. The way someone so aptly said on the for a, “stuff” kept me incredibly busy, which is not necessarily a bad thing, if only it wouldn’t feel quite as useless. Hah.
But I’m getting ahead of myself. First there was yesterday. Yes, very bourjois of me, but alas, for me too the world goes from one day to the next. *snort* Wouldn’t it be grand if that weren’t the case? I mean, seriously, wouldn’t the blog be splendid if time shifted all over the place, the way my brain does sometimes? *snort*
Okay, yesterday. What happened? I’m drawing a blank. Jeez. Don’t you just hate it when that happens? Here I want to start writing it all down, only to end up thinking…and thinking some more…and more. Okay, I’m getting my diary…
Right. I’ve got it. Tuesday. *leafs forward* Here we go…
Woke at the alarm, wondering what the heck that annoying buzz was, feeling so friggin’ tired I just couldn’t help myself from calling big brother and asking him if he could phone me in another thirty minutes. I really needed those extra thirty (well, technically it was twenty) man, and felt distinctly more rested when I did finally get up.
The normal chores were waiting, naturally, but we quickly worked our way through them, fed the dogs and got to work on the computer while chewing on breakfast. Only did about an hour, and then had to go up to help Sally get ready for the day. At the moment she is so far out of it we have to help her with practically everything. Just the task of getting her showered took about half an hour, and that didn’t include getting her dressed and up later on. It is a tad sad to see that she can’t hold onto a single thought at the moment, or that she can’t make a distinction between reality and what’s in her head. I’ll tell her we’ve been there for ten minutes, with her sitting there mumbling to herself, worrying about getting up but not actually doing it. She’ll even get upset about me saying that she is not trying, and is fully convinced she’s been constantly trying (in her head). In the end I had to get firm with her, tell her to stop thinking, take my hand and let me pull her to her feet. There was some serious anger there, but she did manage to get to her feet and dressed.
That done, her breakfast dealt with, (tenant and caregiver were out and about…in other words, at the hospital) I went back down to the carport to get ready to do some work on the kitchen. Got some actual grout work done. In particular for the corner where the stove will be. For the rest the old glue remains were scraped away, tiles washed, so we’re starting to get a good idea of what it’s going to look like. I can hardly wait…but I’ve said that before, haven’t I? Hmmm. Well, it still counts. Hah.
Sally did come down to look at the kitchen, and ended up tripping on one of the steps, and scraped open her shin…not a smart thing to happen what with her blood thinners. *sigh* She was unable to get up, so when it became clear that support to her arm wouldn’t be enough, I had to move in behind her, wrap my arms around her from behind her, and literally put her back on her feet. Good thing I’m tall, otherwise that would never have worked. Gawd, her leg was a mess. I had to put my brain on zero in order to apply bandages (blood doesn’t have a good effect on my stomach, ya know) while big brother came up from the lower yard and cousin Ed got the wheelchair. We shipped Sally off to the local health center where they took care of the mess. We were afraid that we’d have to take her to the ER but they said that if it didn’t keep bleeding during the night, it would be okay. She stopped bleeding, thankfully.
Did get some edits done, thankfully, and I am slowly reading up on E.D., so I can get into it again to resume writing. Came at a good scene yesterday, which was fun to read…in particular since I no longer remembered writing it. Hah.
On the overall the dogs appear to be doing well. Knight II has been making a nuisance of himself by trying to get his collar off, Sitabah appears to be doing a little better, and Tadaika, the meloxicam appears to help against the pain of her sprained foot...did I mention that we took her to the vet the other day because we were afraid she broke something? Well, she didn't. It appears to be a sprain instead. Yay.
Had a bit of wine during the course of the evening, which had me in a jolly mood by the time it was time to go to bed. *snort* Was a little late, which wasn’t a smart thing to do, but there you have it. It made me less than jolly when big brother called this morning to make sure that the alarm would wake me…since it had been friggin’ bleeping for ten minutes already it was pretty good foresight on his part. Hah.
No time for sleeping in today because today is Spanish lesson day. *sigh*
After the usual chores and feeding the dogs a mix of kibble and veggies (grandpa was unable to get dog food at the local bakery, darn it), I was on my way up to tenant who needed help getting ready for the day. Getting dressed, settling outside in the sun and having breakfast just barely fit with my own breakfast and those last few sentences of homework, before it was time (were late by ten minutes again, darn it) to head out for the teach’s place. Did a wee bit of speeding her and there, so we were only five minutes late by the time we settled down for our lesson.
Didn’t get to go through all those laboriously constructed sentences, but spoke at length about life and such. It is fascinating to realize that you’re recognizing more individual words during the course of conversation. Apparently we’re not tossing the money for lessons down the toilet, eh?
That done, we had to head for the city (stopped several times along the way to take some pictures) to pick up a donation, but first some groceries, which was over and done with in about an hour. Then the donation took way longer than planned. Had to load it all up, reorganize along the way, and drive back home. It was already after six by then, and unloading took forever too, which made me rush through making supper. There were plenty of patties, so we used a batch of those on wholegrain buns with lettuce, cheese and tomatoes, which went down splendidly.
By then I was pretty much running on fumes and flopped down behind my computer to do some chats, to check my messages, and…well, to write this thing. Hah. Meaning I’m done right about now. Yay. I’m outta here. The car goes to the garage tomorrow. The brakes, ya know.

It's here!
Song of the day: “Let the sun shine”, by Labrinth, and boy did it ever. Today was our first real summery day, and it was wonderfully scorching. Seriously, today I knew that it was June, and it was wonderful.
Alright then, the fun bit today. While we were at Spanish lesson today, I got a message that my camera arrived and that I could go pick it up. Yay. So exciting…if not a little daunting. I’ve played around a little with digital photography with my phones, but this is the first time I’ll be working with a digital camera, after using the Pentax (film) for the last time some odd ten years ago. *sigh* I miss that old thing, I tell ya.
But anyway, I fooled around with it a little during the course of the evening…until the light faded, that is. Here are a few shots, just to see how it looks. I still have to figure out about the lighting, but that’ll take time an practice of course.
The Dax. At least he posed for me.

Sitabah. Caught her just in time. When I tried again, she turned her head away.

Indigo. All's well in Indigo's world. No worries.

The Chaos...he refused to pose. See that eye? That was all the response I got for calling him.

Kollosus, who's a little on the skinny side at the moment.

But I’ll figure it out, just you wait and see.
So yeah, let’s get to the past couple of days, shall we? Am happy to report that yesterday I got more than seven hours of sleep and last night I also made the seven hour mark, so I’m a little less ragged at the moment. Yay. Do wake up a lot lately, and am not entirely sure why. Might be that I’m not getting enough exercise lately. Some situps in the evening and going up the hospital stairs just won’t cut it. I either need a boxing session, or a jog…better yet, both. Hah.
Did some writing, of course, along with editing for E.D. But also proofreading for ATOL, which is partly for fun, and partly to see if it is good enough to send out to publishers. I like it, but there are times that I fear that it might be written a bit old fashioned, and not at all snappy the way folks seem to like these days. Ah well, only one way to find out, right.
Knight II had to go back to the veterinary. Discovered during the weekend that his ear (you remember the last time, right?) was swelling up again. Yep, the fun’s starting all over again, darn it. He had to have a whole operation, and now his ear is filled with sutures once more. Little darling is even a little depressed, I fear.
Had to go to hospital again. Sally still isn’t being discharged. They’re not happy with her blood, so far, so she’s there to stay…for now. Added to that, she’s terribly confused, not to mention convinced that the staff is “doing this to her” and that they’re all out to make her miserable, and are holding her against her will for weeks and weeks, and weeks. Not to mention that she’s being left to her own resources, and that no one ever comes to visit. *sigh* Most of our visits is talking her out of these delusions, and calm her down enough for her to get a little less down. Luckily, by the time our visits come to an end, she’s in much better spirits.
Anyway, it was some sort of holiday, so our plan to get Sally some of her much wanted kefir and fruit was foiled. The trip to the hospital went pleasantly fast, however, and at the hospital there was no one around in the stairwell to hear me puff like a steam locomotive on my way up the steps. Hah.
Strangely enough, opposite to Marbella, town was mostly open, so we did manage to get some groceries. Not a lot, mind you. Don’t need all that much these days, and besides, we’re being frugal.
Could pick up Knight II, who was still fuzzy, but more than willing to get the heck out of there.
Then there was cooking (chili with patties) proofreading and then, thankfully the day came to an end…only to start all over again today. *snort*
Yep. The usual chores, of course. Then Spanish homework for the simple reason that we didn’t find the time for it during the week. Next there was a quick breakfast, at which point big brother and I decided it would be smarter for us to just drive on to Marbella after Spanish lesson, and visit with Sally again. Otherwise we’d just have to head back home (going half the distance) only to have cousin Ed then drive back to the hospital, while we might as well get that over with. Sally was in a better mood today, at least.
Lesson didn’t go as well as yesterday. My brain just wouldn’t cooperate today. Very annoying. Did have a good conversation, however, which is also fun (while still being educational) since there are more and more words that I recognize.
Once we got back from the hospital (having missed lunch, we decided to snack on French bread and cream cheese) we picked up my camera, with which I played a bit, of course. Then we got home, I took a quick dip and then it was time to cook. Had a nice elaborate meal today. Baked tortellini, baked carrots with cauliflower, and mushrooms on the side. Went down really well.
And then, as the evening slowly drew to an end, another proofreading session, followed by the blog…et voila. That’s it. That’s all she wrote for today. No mas. Hah

Healthy as heck
Song of the day: “Perfect 10” by The Beautiful South. Such a funny song, inspired as well.
Yesterday first for a change. I know I’ve been slacking keeping the blog nicely organized, but things have been a little insane, as you undoubtedly noticed. Hah. But anyway, it was another busy day yesterday. First off it started with big brother and I getting up early to take Sally to the Centro Salud in the village. It turned out to be all for nothing. The hospital claimed that she had to go there a week prior to her test (next week) and have her blood checked, but when we got there it turned out to be impossible. So it was for nothing, and by the time we got back the lack of sleep was catching up on me, so rather than crash later in the day I went back to bed for an hour and a half and woke up feeling remotely human, at least. *sigh* Had the weirdest post apocalyptic dreams, sci-fi mixed with fantasy, with somewhat dangerous pursuits going on. I’m thinking of writing it all down for a book, otherwise I would elaborate. Hah.
Did feed the dogs before the nap, and did some laundry, so once I woke up and ate something, it was editing...if only a little because big brother is way behind on proof reading the printed manuscript. So instead grandpa and I worked on putting together mom’s side table. The dratted thing broke down during the course of the last two years, so the paws had to be fortified and even some supports replaced. Since I didn’t want grandpa doing that sort of thing on his own at the moment, I figured that fixing it myself would be the smart thing. That way, he only had to assist. Of course, it isn’t as if he can’t do it himself, but that is the way feelings work, right. We worry.
Had to do a rush pick-up, only to head on back straight away because grandpa had an appointment at the GP in the village. What with all the medical terms we figured that it was a good idea to have a chat with a doctor who spoke grandpa’s language. It was very enlightening, really. Basically the hospital report declared that grandpa is ridiculously healthy for his age, and that his only problem is a slightly faulty heart-valve. That a small blood clod caused all this hassle was something coincidental at most, and according to the GP the best thing grandpa can do is take his medication (to prevent it from happening again) and live on as if nothing ever happened, because he is doing so well. Gawd, I don’t want to know what would have happened if he hadn’t been in this good a condition. *sigh*
Went past the vegetable center to get some veggies for the dog food, which took some time. Arrived home near dusk, cooked supper and then got some serious editing done. Didn’t get to bed until after one, but since there were no pressing matters waiting in the morning I could sleep in ‘til NINE! Yay.
Of course today there was our Spanish lesson, and a pick up in town right after, but what the hey. Time aplenty to get the laundry done, feed the dogs and stuff some breakfast down our throats.
Luckily, what with the good night’s sleep, lessons went a lot better for me this time round. I actually managed some sentences without being corrected all the time, so, phew.
Didn’t get home ‘till after five and by then it was time to start cooking. Since we were early, we decided to get in a nice jog. Seriously, I needed that, even though I didn’t manage all that well after all this time. Ran about half the distance with me falling back to a sturdy pace, but I don’t care, that’ll come again. New sneakers worked well during the run. It didn’t hurt, despite the fact that I’m sore as heck now.
A bit of disconcerting news is that at the moment we are facing a somewhat unusual problem with one of our dogs. Bambi. It would seem that something went wrong in his head, because from being just a bit frightful he shot straight into being aggressive. Today he actually almost attacked big brother when he tried to put an anti-tick collar on him. He’s been getting worse lately, but he’s never done this. We have come to the point that we’re not even allowed to touch him or else he’ll bite. It’s a grave problem for sure. We’ll have to figure something out because at the moment ticks are literally eating him alive. *sigh*
But anyway, after the jog I finished cooking supper (I don’t like eating before running, so I put it all to simmer) and then settled in for the night’s edit. Did a solid batch of pages at least, getting close to the end of the paper edit, meaning that soon we’ll be starting on the last edit. Yay.
In between we’re going to give ourselves a break of a couple of days to start sending out query letters for Saving Nina again. It’ll be a nice breather for sure, in particular since we need a fresh eye to look through the story to make sure that we didn’t make any glaring errors.
Spent some time with tenant to help her practice walking, but she got frightened after the first few steps and wanted to lie down again. Then, later, when we tried again by doing some exercises while she sat in her chair, I noticed a distinct disinterest in her, so then it really didn’t have any use. We’ll try again, see if it works better.
Well, I’m starting to draw blanks, so I’m going to leave it at this and see if I can get to bed before two in the morning…unlikely, but what the hey.

A bunch of stuff
Song of the day: “Beneath your beautiful” by Labrynth and Emeli Sandé- Gorgeous song. Never mind having it in my head.
Today was Spanish lesson day, of course. We were right on time, too, so that was a good thing. Had to take Knight along, of course, which I think our teacher didn’t like all that much. Either she doesn’t like dogs, or she’s afraid of them.
Went well regardless. Actually had some conversation throughout, though we end up appearing pretty wonky to the poor woman. I mean, who in his right mind lives with 50 something dogs. Heck, who lives with a family of eight, plus two old family friends, right? Ah well. Being normal is overrated anyway. Hah.
Did well, and let’s keep it at that.
Wanted to work on restoring an old cabinet I was planning on selling someday, only to discover that it was donated for the sole reason that it was riddle with fresh woodworm holes. And that while I had already repaired one of the drawers, gathered paint, brushes, and sanding paper. The whole shebang, and then…well, it all turned into firewood. *sigh* Such a pity. It was a nice little cupboard.
Everything was closed today, due to a national holiday. The whole town was out into the woods, plucking rosemary which they could sprinkle over the streets for la Virgen. Big pooha, all very traditional. Been hearing singing down in the valley all afternoon.
Yesterday was a bad night for me, partly because I woke at six in the morning, and then proceeded to lie awake for a full hour worrying about…well, everything. The dogs, money, life in general, blegh. So annoying. Did finally manage to fall back to sleep, but I had far too little sleep, of course.
Practiced Spanish, though not as much as I should have. Who’s got time, for crying out loud, I barely manage the essentials during the course of the day, let alone fit in an hour of friggin’ Spanish practice. Darn it.
Had to take Empera and Knight to the vet, the latter because his drain disappeared from his stitches (he didn’t need a new one) and the first because it has been more than two weeks. The vet didn’t like it that Empera is so skinny now. She says that we can wait a little longer, but if by Thursday she has lost more weight, we’re going to have to do a blood test. Her back is a little better, though. Later, when we got home, Kollosus (Empera’s sister) pooed blood, so as soon as the vet was open again, we took her there so the vet could check her poo. She couldn’t find anything, so now both Empera and Kollosus are just on a general antibiotic, and something for their intestines (seeing as they’re equally skinny) and we’ll have to see how it goes.
Sally still isn’t doing well. Her health is rapidly declining lately, partly due to her inactivity, I think. It is such a pity that she won’t work on her health. I think that with some decent exercise and active lifestyle, she would be doing way better.
Rather than edit, I added a short scene to the book. Both big brother and I thought that the story would benefit from some added information. Edits are still steadily continuing. Are now halfway through the script, so that’s not bad. As soon as this edit is done, we’re doing a paper one.
Yesterday was also very cloudy, while today we basically had sunshine all day. It was grand. Really comfortable. Could actually walk around in a sleeveless most of the day. Am already getting my tan back, thank you very much.
Cooking involved baking ravioli in cheese, a fresh tomato sauce, and baked mushrooms on the side today, while yesterday with had fried rice with veggies.
There were the normal chores, fascinating as always, I know. And the rusty parts of the 2nd hand cooking stove for my kitchen got painted. Yay! Most of the beams are done now, too, and grandpa is working on painting the boarding of the ceiling (they’ll be a light cornflower blue) so that in a few days from now we’ll be able to start putting in the roof for real. Am also working on putting together a small pamphlet offering folks affordable construction work. I'll be putting that out at the markets and some spots, like the vet and such.
Tenant had her family visiting today again. I think it did her well, seeing as she is more active at the moment than she has been in a long time. She isn’t solely demanding to be put into bed, thankfully, and actually sits in her chair or outside in the sun most of the day.
Knight II is doing relatively well. I have to figure something out, because he is trying to lick his stitches, which isn’t smart at all…but then, I never was able to call him the smartest of the litter in that regard.
Are going to have to do a tick bath soon, because it is drying me insane again. I’m picking up to 25 ticks per dog off every single day, and my fingers are starting to get numb from it, for crying out loud.
Well, that’s it for me. I need some shut-eye fast. It’s late.

Not looking bad
Song of the day: “Let the sun shine” by Labrynth. Still an awesome song, despite the fact that I often have it in my head.
Sooooo, what has been happening. Not a whole lot, but that’s nothing new, right?
I overslept by half an hour yesterday, and still was tired. Don’t know what that was all about. But anyways, there were the normal, morning chores followed by bringing Olive and Jane back to the village, before getting some of breakfast, and heading out again for a short trip to town.
For some reason I was still tired by then, felt downright sickly, in fact, so I took a short nap and was really out for the count. Cousin Ed had to call three times before I woke up. How weird is that?
Got to work on the last window for the kitchen. Got it all sawed, and ready to put together when mom phoned and asked if maybe we could look at their market awning because the wind wrecked it the last time. That took about an hour to fix, and by then it was time to start on supper. Made a rather elaborate meal of mushroom pastry with fresh cauliflower, ratatouille, and baked ravioli on the side.
While cooking, I just barely managed to feed tenant, who ate well, much to our relief. Food wise it is not such a disaster lately, but the drinking…well, frustrating doesn’t quite cover it.
There was a writing session, of course, and the book is around 22K words, and well to the middle. Not bad. The progress is better than I expected. With a little luck we’ll be able to start with the edit next week.
Wanted to go to bed on time, but didn’t get there until one thirty in the morning. *Sigh* Were in a rush most of today. There were the normal chores again, of course, followed by a quick breakfast right before we had to head for our Spanish class. Were on the late side, so we had to hurry, only to arrive three minutes late. Not bad…and that without speeding. Hah.
Didn’t go bad either. She could do most of the lesson in Spanish, which is a good thing. She has a pleasantly slow way of speaking, very explicit, which makes it easy to follow. We actually managed conversation.
Afterward we headed for the vegetable center, followed by a rushed trip to town for a “last-minute” pick up, meaning we were running late for my doctor’s appointment. Then, on our way there (the road that went past home) we got stuck after a beer truck going about ten miles per hour, so I told big brother to please drive down to the gate so I could run to the toilet. Gawd, I had to pee sooooo bad.
Back on the road, he made it record time to the clinic where I arrived two minutes late, only to sit there in the waiting room for another twenty-five minutes. Seriously, there is nothing I hate more than waiting in a waiting room…in particular since I couldn’t help but worry about what the doctor was going to do. So wasn’t looking forward to more of the same, and at one point actually started to get flushed and a little dizzy. Asked for a cup of water, and sipped that before I was called into the exam room.
There was some more waiting involved since the doc was on the phone and then we went through the “how’ve you been” answered by my “it hurt a little” to which he tsked and told me to lie down so he could have a looksee.
I can tell you that, despite my worry, it wasn’t as bad as the last time. He did yank off the band-aid (taking half my hair with it *sigh*) and squeezed some more puss out, but on the overall he said that it didn’t look back and that the infection was going down. A new band-aid was slapped on, and then I could leave with an appointment with the nurse on Friday, and then another, to see how it is going, on Monday. So exhausting, all this doctor visiting stuff. The poor pack was ecstatic and frantic at the same time when we finally got home. *double sigh*
Didn’t cry my eyes out this time, heck I didn’t even drop a tear, so all’s swell. Once we got home we headed straight into the yard to harvest broccoli, lettuce and cauliflower. Then it was up to the kitchen to cook supper for tenant…made veggies with lentils for her…and preparing pizza for the rest of us.
Only managed about an hour of writing, but that couldn’t be helped. Instead this blog had to be written after all, and there are only so many hours in the day…regretfully.
That’s if for today. I’m running on fumes again, so I better hit the sheets.

A bit of good news...well, close anyway
Song of the day: “Give me love” by Ed Sheeran. So sad, so pretty.
Well, let’s start with the (semi) good news, shall we. I heard back from a publisher yesterday where they declined to offer for Chicago Hope, but added that if I were willing to change/add five points to the story, they would like to see me resubmit the story for their review.
I was a little stunned, really, because mostly you’re lucky to get a “thanks but no thanks” kind of deal from the publishers, and yet here I got this full page of tips to improve on the story in such a way that they might be able to publish it. The biggest plusses that had me hooked, of course, was the fact that the editor said that the story was engaging and the characters well-crafted. Always nice to have that confirmed by a professional. Hah.
The thing they would like to see added is the world-building (story is set in the 1920s) and the “suffering” of the heroine, which was something I had to keep to a minimum due to the 15.000 word count limit, and the “conflict”, which they want to have more prominent throughout. Some sort of danger, you know. Fine with me, but of course I was still stuck with the 15K word count limit, darn it. I had no choice but to write back and explain that I would be happy to do a revision, but that it would be nigh on impossible to keep it at 15K. Within thirty minutes the editor wrote back that that would be fine, perhaps even better, because then I’d be able to try it for a different line which could have up to 40K words. Wow. Talk about a challenge! Have been playing with ideas in my head all day, meaning that my oral responses have dropped down to Neanderthal mode. *sigh*
Now we have agreed on me getting to work on the story, and the editor looking forward to the changes.
How fun is that, I ask you?
Now don’t get too excited (it’s still a we’ll see stage). Heck, I’m not even going to tell mom and the younger sibs because they’ll just get overly disappointed if this turns out to be nothing. Heck, the same goes for the whole Abna deal. Until there’s actually something awesome to share, it’s little more than a “wow, this is exciting” moment. Very personal, in fact…except for me yapping about it here on the blog of course. Sorry ‘bout that, but for most of you guys this is little more than entertainment. It won’t be like you’ll get your hopes up and end up devastated if it turns out to be nothing, right?
But like I said, this too is a “we’ll see” deal. For the moment big brother and I have suspended the TMSTS rewrite once more, while we go back to Chicago Hope and see what we can do to oblige the editor in her wishes for this revision. I have to say that it will be a challenge. In my head Chicago Hope is pretty well rounded, so to take out the telling (designed to compact the word count) and change it into showing, is going to be a pickle. Not impossible, mind you, but a pickle regardless. Added to that, it is always strange to work on other people’s ideas, rather than your own. But the way I figure it is a good learning experience. Now it will be a matter of seeing if we can get it all done in a reasonable amount of time.
Okay, next subject.
Bad news is that, due to some blood in tenant’s urine, she has been carted to hospital by an ambulance (doctor’s orders, rather than ours) so she can be checked out. She has, of course, another UTI, meaning that caregiver has spent the majority of the day at the hospital, waiting for tenant to go through a battery of tests. Since the other tests showed nothing of interest, she will be home tonight once more, so in that regard all is well after all, thank you very much.
Didn’t sleep well at all yesterday. Once again Spanish stuff kept tumbling through my head, keeping me from dropping off properly. Grrr. Was incredibly tired when it was time to get up, which doesn’t help the day much, does it. Hah.
The normal chores, such as splendid laundry, had to be done in record time while big brother go the visiting dogs and already got started on feeding the pack. Right after we had to hurry on up to tenant’s place, because she was giving Olive and Jane fits by screaming for big brother. Finally managed to calm her down, and have her finish her breakfast with the promise that we would put her back in big brother carry her to her bed…this of course made me late to meet with Pedro.
Pedro is someone the receptionist at the garage set me up with. (No, not that kind of setting up. Hah) He’s a very nice fella, daddy of a teenage girl (yowsa) and easy to talk with. The deal is that he gets to practice his English on my, while I get to practice my budding Spanish on him. Luckily his English is way better than mine, because otherwise we would have had very little to talk about. He works in Norway, apparently, and according to him, Norwegian basically are all able to speak English. Frustratingly for him, they all want to practice their English while he would like to practice his Norwegian. Rather than be annoyed, he decided to learn English. Smart guy. I’ll tell you this. If I ever learn the amount of Spanish, the way he learned English, I’ll be a happy camper.
Was so tired later in the day I went for a nap. Had just about dropped off when mom phoned me. *sigh* Always on the days I decide for a nap, I’ll get a phone call. I don’t know what that is, but it just happens. I had wanted to turn it off, but I was waiting for a call from the garage, so it just wasn’t possible. *double sigh*
Were able to pick up the car yesterday. Set us back a whopping 220, but at least it got done and our baby is back. I do hope that the garage owners will find a new spot soon, because I for one am looking forward to when they’ll give car maintenance lessons. I’ll be the first to sign up, I tell you.
Today was time for our Spanish lesson. Didn’t go bad, despite the fact that I was a tad distracted. Teach is getting to be more relaxed, meaning that we too are getting to be more relaxed, which is a pleasant state of being. Regretfully it rained today, so we had to do the lessons inside. I like the sunshine way more, but it didn’t go bad, thankfully.
Afterward we headed to town for some groceries and an agreed upon donation of “over due” food for the doggies. Good veggies are always a plus for our little darlings. The dogs were absolutely bonkers when I got home. We’ve been out so much lately that they’re spending a lot of time alone.
Got seriously started on revising “Chicago Hope” tonight, after we got home and unloaded the car in the pouring rain. My foot was absolutely killing me today…what am I saying, it was that way yesterday too. Guess I did something wrong with it again. Got so bad I had to grab my insoles again, which gave some relief at least today. I’m going to have to figure something out soon, maybe try out some of my own designs for insoles, or something.
Seriously, in the mornings I can hardly walk at the moment, unless I’m walking on my toes that is. Yikes. Try it yourself some day with a painful spot that feels like it’s the size of a golf ball when you stand on it. *sigh*
Have been rubbing in Arnica gel the past few days and that is doing something at least.
What else…hmmm. I’m not sure. I did some cooking yesterday. A ratatouille that was quite tasteful, followed by a handful of strawberries in yogurt that worked well as a desert. Hah.
Well, that will do for today. I would like to go to bed early so I can do some work on the story tomorrow. Keep your fingers crossed, folks. I’m going to need all the help I can get. *wink*

*wink*

Acceptance
Song of the day: “Hey Na Na Na” by Vaya Con Dios. It’s an oldie, I know, but sometimes those just work best…talking about old, I had Vivaldis “Spring” in my head for a bit, late this afternoon.
Wednesday. Boy, does a week go fast. Last week we had our first Spanish lesson, and right now the second one is over and done with. Wonky thought. It didn’t go bad, despite the fact that these days my brain feels like some sort of sieve. One moment I’m repeating some word that would e infinitely useful in the future only to forget it again within ten minutes. *sigh* But no matter, I will darn well (re)learn some of the basics, even if it kills me.
It has been a busy couple of days, in particular since there was lots of going to the village/town. Feels like we’ve hardly been at home at all these past couple of days. First there was just me driving to town to drop the Land Rover off at the garage, only to be distracted with everything going on and ending up with a speeding ticket *gasp*!
Yep. Popped my cherry there. My first ticket ever. Grrr. Was going down and incline, thinking way too deeply, only to have something flash, and me think “ what the…” only to be flagged to the side of the road the next second by a couple of Guardia Civil.
They weren’t unfriendly about it, so I can’t say it was particularly traumatic. I was just momentarily chagrinned about the entire ordeal while I considered the funds I’d have to dig out my savings. Grrrrrr.
Soon I was back on my way, (one of the fellas apologized for being tardy with the ticket. Technology stinking, and all that) heading straight for town where I needed to refill the butane bottles at the distribution center. Next I popped into the supermarket for bread and cheese (due to the arrival of Olive and Jane, I had to explain some things for tenant’s care to them, rather than have breakfast) and then brought the car in. The moment I drove in and set it on the bridge the mechanic did an “oopsie, you might have an oil leak” which made me swear and then roll my eyes as I headed down to shoot the breeze with the receptionist for the next half hour or so…or maybe I should say I did some serious bitching about this month. Jeez!
Luckily she can relate, considering she had a near miss with death at the hospital at some point in the past month, because they gave her a wrong antibiotic that made her bone marrow stop making red blood cells…which had me going, like, “okay, you win. You’re month was worse.” Hah.
But anyway, the supposed leak turned out to be nothing. Thank you very much! And the problem we’d come there for wasn’t a problem at all. Yay! That was settled with twenty bucks for there time, so I was seriously happy at the end.
Once home (took a slight detour through the country and almost got stuck in a river, hehehe) big brother and I did some edits prior to heading out for a donation that will work well as dog food in the near future. Seriously, we got a big, bit load of veggies so that’s going to help.
Tenant is not doing well…at least, it is not improving. At the moment she just wants to sleep, can barely sit up anymore, and is just drifting away from us. Rather sad, if you think about it, but wherever we turn in an attempt to help her, to find out what is amiss, we are being sent elsewhere, or are told that it is just age playing parts on her. So frustrating, but since our talk with the GP there is not much choice than to accept it as reality. Such a strange thought that someone who has been part of our lives for some odd thirty years, might soon not be here anymore. Accepting is difficult, but…no choice really.
There were more edits both yesterday and today. And did I mention laundry? Feeding the dogs? Swearing at the Knight for touching his sock again? And cooking?
No?
Well, I won’t bother you with it, I promise. Just the usual messes, partly interrupted by big brother and I stopping at the vet’s with Empera (German Shepherd) who appeared to be getting worse during the night. The vet has now prescribed her Cortison and valium so she’ll keep nice and quiet. Glad she’ll be in less pain, because last night she was really uncomfortable. Even crying a little at times.
We have set off a corner for her where we work, so she won’t be locked away from us.
Lastly we had to pick up another donation, which, prior to cooking supper (ratatouille and spaggetthi) and a nice little mash for tenant with some chicken in it.
I managed to choke down some meat this afternoon, but just barely
Which brings us to the end of today’s blog. I need sleep!

Spanish
Song of the day: “Irish Son” by Brian McFadden. Who’d have thought he could sing solo, but there you have it. Good son, very intense.
Laundry wise things have been going in loads. All the bad weather kept it from drying properly again, so there was plenty to fold yesterday. Strange how just a handful of folks can produce that much laundry, eh?
But anyway, I don’t mind. Hanging and folding laundry soothes me, and allows me to let my minimal amount of OCD play. Hah. Seriously, if you’ve never hung laundry (can’t imagine it, but what the hey) you should do it some day. Cheaper than a dryer and, not to mention, better for the environment. Hah.
Tenant is back home, yay. They sent her home, saying that we’re not supposed to bring her there again unless the local infirmary says she has to, or if it is an extreme emergency. *sigh* It’s not as if we go there for the fun of it, idiots. She seemed to be in good spirits, except that she was trying to think of ways that she would be able to have her intravenous drip in her room, rather than needing to drink constantly…which isn’t possible of course. There’s no way they’ll put you on a drip when you’re at home without a professional nurse. Seriously, it’s a trial…we’ll have to get through it, though. We have been looking into getting help if she doesn’t improve soon (so far it is going…albeit difficultly. She has, just barely, reached the absolute minimum quota of what she’s supposed to drink today, yay) so we’re keeping our fingers crossed.
Talked with her daughter on the phone a bit, which was a relief, since there are, and will be, decisions that have to be made in the future, and it is not our place to make them. *sigh*
Did finally manage to scrounge up the nerve to talk with Sally about, if the worst were to happen, and she dies, what she wants to be done. She was very firm about it, and determined, claiming she wants to be cremated and for us to let her oldest brother know. That’s a relief too.
Okay, enough depressing news. Good thing is we sent another manuscript to a publisher. A novella, this time. The one we read through in 4 hours without finding any major errors. Yay!
Sent it, got a confirmation that it arrived, and so the waiting game starts. Did see that A.I.L. which we sent to the same publisher has an “In progress” status, rather than just “received”. Keeping my fingers crossed.
Managed to choke down meat (both today and yesterday) just barely. Didn’t get the whole slab, but at least eighty percent, so I’m content with that at least. Part of my problem was that I was out of peanut butter, meaning that I was unable to make a proper Satay for it. Without the sauce I really am not able to make my way through the stuff…and due to the fact that I only ate it once or twice this past month, it was harder again to eat it.
Did some edits for T.M.S.T.S. Not as much as I would have liked, but some at least. Am afraid we’re not going to make our deadline of before the end of spring, but we’re going to continue trying at the very least.
Cooking involved a large amount of potatoes, tossed together with fresh Broccoli and Cauliflower from the yard. The cream and butter that I added with fresh garden herbs, made it darn near perfect, thank you very much. Blendering the mix with some liver for tenant, took care of her needs as well. And she liked it, so, yippee.
The dogs had to be fed as well, of course. One of the morning chores, ya know. Every day the same, naturally, but they are much appreciative nigh on every morning. Were in a bit of a rush with it this morning, because at noon we had to be in the village to meet with our Spanish teacher. Yep, the day has arrived for us to start on our Spanish lessons. We actually managed to arrive on time, and spent some odd two hours poring over our notebooks as she instructed us in the finer parts of the language. I wasn’t as bad at it as I expected. She could explain most of anything in Spanish (only needed to resort to English a handful of times) and we repeated, and repeated, and repeated when we were told to. Hah.
Afterward we headed to town to go past the garage and ask for an appointment for the Land Rover. The light of the differential lock has been flickering, meaning that something is wrong. The way we figure, we better have the mechanic look at it before something breaks. Got an appointment for Monday. Had a nice chat with the receptionist, who had some awful experiences at the hospital these past few months. She almost died, in fact, if she had not gone to a private hospital where they sorted it out real fast. Bone marrow was no longer making red blood cells. Yikes! Scary, huh, all the stuff that can go wrong?
Knight is doing okay, the bandage held this time. Am going to have to check it today, though. My foot. Well, I have been doing a lot of stretches, seeing as the discomfort was somewhat fierce these past few weeks, and this morning was the first time in ages that I could actually get out of bed without risking going flat on my face from it. A definite yay, that…of course, it doesn’t help that Tadaika decided to use me as a horizontal rubbing pole, and thereby caused me to sprain something in my neck while I tried to dodge her affection. Grrr. Have been turning my upper body instead of my neck all day, darn it.
Went into the yard for a bit, which was nice. Got to yank weeds and harvested broccoli, chickweed and iceberg slaw. The weather was actually splendid. Bright sunshine. The wind wasn't too bad, and the temps doable with a sweater on.
Well, that’s it for me. Time to go to bed. This day has definitely reached its end for me.
